The anime adaptation of *Takopii no Genzai* is set to begin streaming on various platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and ABEMA every Saturday starting from 0:00 JST on June 28, 2025. Alongside this exciting news, a main visual and the main promotional video have been unveiled. The theme song information has also been announced, revealing that ano will perform the opening theme and Tele will handle the ending theme.

*Takopii no Genzai* is a manga by Taizan5 that was serialized and distributed on the manga app “Shonen Jump+” from December 2021 to March 2022. The story kicks off when Takopii, a happy alien who descended to Earth to spread happiness, meets a human girl named Shizuka. After being saved by Shizuka in a pinch, Takopii sets out to restore her smile using his mysterious Happy Tools. However, it soon becomes clear that Shizuka is carrying some heavy burdens both at home and at school…

Upon its serialization, the manga quickly became a hot topic on social media, setting a record for the highest number of views among serialized works on “Shonen Jump+” at the time. It was also selected as the 3rd best manga in the male demographic category in “Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023” and became a sensational hit, surpassing 1.45 million copies in print despite being completed in just two volumes.

This latest wave of information was all announced at a pre-screening event and talk show held on May 20. The streaming, starting on June 28 at 0:00 JST, will be a simultaneous release across numerous platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ABEMA, U-NEXT, and many others, without any platform holding exclusive or advance streaming rights. It was also revealed that the anime will consist of a total of six episodes.

Also unveiled was the main visual, which depicts Takopii and Shizuka, along with Shizuka’s classmates Marina and Azuma. The characters are gathered in the park, which serves as the setting for the story. Pay close attention to the ribbon surrounding the illustration as well!

Furthermore, the main promotional video featuring the theme songs was also released. You can get an early listen to both the opening and ending themes in this video. The opening theme is a new song titled “Happy Lucky Chappy,” written specifically for the anime by ano, who is active not only as an artist but also in various fields including variety shows. The ending theme is a new song titled “Garasu no Sen,” also written for the anime by Tele, an artist who enjoys passionate support from young people. Comments from both artists regarding their involvement with the theme songs have also been released.

I had the opportunity to write the opening theme for *Takopii no Genzai*.
I had read the original manga before and felt a connection to the heavy and painful parts of the story, so when I was asked to write the song, I was very unsure how to approach it.
I wrote about my middle school days, when I felt like the world around me had no color, and how that feeling can still resurface even now, just as it was.
I hope this song can offer a little bit of comfort to those watching the anime, and to those who find it difficult to ask for help or express their honest feelings in today’s world.
I’m really looking forward to watching it myself.

I find myself relating to the existence of Takopii.
In one sense, music is also a kind of Happy Tool.
Every time I re-read the manga, I feel like telling him, “I understand.”
The pain of wanting to save someone and help them, even when you don’t understand anything, is immense.
Reaching out to grasp the hand of someone you can’t see is the most difficult thing.
So I wrote this song hoping that just for the duration of it, they could breathe peacefully – well, not just Takopii. Everyone in this story is living while gasping for air like fish out of water.
All I could do for them was write this song. I layered the sounds as if sending a letter to an old friend. I am truly honored to be involved with a work that makes me feel this way. Thank you very much.
