Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Who is your favorite ‘Lucky’ (Fortunate) Character?” for the second consecutive year, and we are now presenting the results.

May 26th is “Lucky Zone Day”.

This originated on the same day in 1947 when a “Lucky Zone” was installed in the outfield of Hanshin Koushien Stadium with the goal of increasing home runs.

Anime also features many fortunate characters. Some characters strike it rich with lottery tickets, or walk away unscathed after falling off a cliff, or simply have incredibly high luck stats… Out of such characters favored by the goddess of fortune, who is the most popular?

Therefore, Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Who is your favorite ‘Lucky’ (Fortunate) Character?” for the second consecutive year. We received 188 responses during the survey period from May 17th to May 21st.
Regarding gender ratio, it was approximately 25 percent male and 75 percent female, with more female respondents. The age demographics were centered around younger generations, with approximately 20 percent under 19 and approximately 55 percent in their 20s.

The 1st place goes to Mouri Ran from Meitantei Konan. With approximately 17 percent support, she takes the top spot for the third consecutive year.

“I often see scenes where Ran-chan wins big on raffles. She gets rare hands in Mahjong that you almost never see, and finds clues to cases based on her casual intuition… It really makes me admire how much the goddess of fortune loves her.” and “Whether it’s cards, mahjong, or raffles, she never loses anything related to luck! And she’s strong in fights too!!” and “I’m curious how many times she’s actually won trips in lotteries.” Indeed, the owner of great fortune takes the top spot again this year.

The 2nd place is Monoyoshi Sadamune from Touken Ranbu ONLINE. With approximately 8 percent support, he moves up from 3rd place last year.

Readers commented: “He is modeled after a sword that is said to bring good luck to its owner. In the anime Hanamaru, there were scenes where he brought good fortune.” and “The name Monoyoshi comes from the anecdote that if you go into battle carrying this sword, you will always win.” and “When I hear his energetic line, ‘I’ll bring you good luck!’, it makes me feel like I’m receiving a share of happiness.” He gathered support as a lucky character truly befitting his name, Monoyoshi.

The 3rd place is Lucky Man from Tottemo! Lucky Man. With approximately 6 percent support, he drops from 2nd place last year.

Lucky Man, as his name suggests, is a lucky hero whose only strength is his luck. Comments included: “I loved his transformation catchphrases like ‘Lucky, Cookie, Monjayaki-!’ (a pun).” and “While many lucky protagonists tend to have actual skill or be hardworking, Lucky Man truly defeats enemies with only his luck. That’s what interesting!” He continues to show strong popularity as a protagonist specializing solely in luck.

For Orias Oswald from Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: “He is a user of ‘Lucky Happy’, a family magic that brings good fortune. Although he is a high-ranking demon, I like the unexpected gap of him being quite messy in the teacher’s dorm.”
For Ebisu Isaburou from Youkai Gakkou no Sensei Hajimemashita!: “Because he is a god of fortune and extremely lucky. When he was assigned to the yokai school as a temporary teacher, he became very popular among the students. There’s even a rumor that setting him as your phone wallpaper will improve your luck…?”

For Nakano Yotsuba from Gotoubun no Hanayome: “The symbol of Yotsuba is the four-leaf clover that brings good luck. She even avoided failing tests by guessing. Her fated love story in the main story truly shows she is a lucky person.”

For Aventurine from Houkai: Star Rail: “A pure gambler who even risks his own life. I became a fan after learning about his harsh past. I hope he continues to survive using his strong luck as a weapon.” Votes were also received for characters from popular games.

The top 3 characters in the 2025 version remain the same as last year. The list includes characters in various roles, such as protagonists, heroines, and antagonists.
