`Jigokuraku`, a `ninjutsu` romantic action-adventure series set in the late Edo period, was originally serialized on the manga app “Jump+” by Kaku Yuuji and boasts a cumulative circulation of over 6.5 million copies. The story follows Gabimaru, the strongest ninja who was captured as a rogue ninja and sentenced to death. To earn his freedom, he ventures into a land rumored to be “Gokurakujoudo” (Pure Land) alongside the executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, aiming to obtain the “elixir of immortality” and return alive.

The TV anime’s first season aired from April to July 2023. A second season was announced upon the conclusion of the first, and is slated to begin in January 2026.
