About Kinguamu

Based on the hugely popular manga by Hara Yasuhisa-sensei, serialized in Shueisha’s “Shukan Yangu Janpu,” the Kinguamu TV anime is an epic historical drama set in China’s Shunjuu Sengoku Jidai (Spring and Autumn Warring States period). It vividly portrays the exploits of Xin, a young boy striving to become a Tenka no Daishougun (Great General under the Heavens), and Ying Zheng, the youthful king who would later become the first emperor of China.

The anime series has captivated audiences through its previous seasons: the first series aired from June 2012 to February 2013 on NHK BS Premium, followed by the second from June 2013 to March 2014. After a break, the third series ran from April to October 2021, the fourth from April to October 2022, and the fifth from January to March 2024. The highly anticipated sixth series is scheduled to begin broadcasting on NHK Sougou in October 2025.

Musical Powerhouses Announced

Adding to the excitement for the sixth series, the artists performing the opening and ending themes have been revealed. The opening theme, titled “Ikite, Sansan” (Living, Shining Brightly), will be performed by Ikimonogakari. The ending theme, “Houkou” (Roar), will be performed by Tomonari Sora. Both tracks are set to add a vibrant layer to the intensifying full-scale war between Qin and Zhao.

The Teaser Trailer Hints at Fierce Battles Ahead

The first teaser trailer for the sixth series, featuring the powerful opening theme, has been released. In this upcoming season, Xin will finally march into battle, carrying the spear of none other than Ouki! Ouki, a hero who carved his name into history and was revered by all, a Daishougun feared across all of China, was the one who named Xin’s unit the “Hishintai”. He served as a guiding figure for Xin’s dream of becoming a Tenka no Daishougun. At Bayou, after a deadly duel with his fated adversary, the “God of War” Houken, Ouki entrusted his spear to Xin just before his life ended, passing on his dream and aspirations to the next generation.

Eight years have passed since Ouki’s death. Having grown as a warrior by surviving countless deadly battles alongside many loyal companions, Xin takes the spear entrusted to him by Ouki and resolves to challenge the full-scale war against Zhao.

The trailer masterfully links its visuals with the lyrics of the opening theme, showing Xin running at the forefront and confronting formidable foes, carrying the tears and aspirations of fallen comrades into the future.

Furthermore, a powerful teaser visual has been unveiled, depicting Xin brandishing the spear entrusted to him by Ouki on the battlefield. The sixth series will finally see the war against Zhao commence, with Qin deploying a聯合軍 (rengougun – joint army) led by Ousen, Kanki, and Youtanwa. The new generation, including Xin, Mouten, and Ouhon, will also participate, leading their respective units as independent mobile forces and being assigned crucial roles.

Ikimonogakari shared their thoughts: “The serialization of ‘Kinguamu’ began in 2006. Ikimonogakari’s debut was also in 2006. Just like the protagonists Xin and Zheng, ‘Kinguamu’ has powerfully soared and is now a work known throughout Japan. We have always watched the back of this work, which grows like a Daishougun, with admiration and excitement, and we feel honored to be able to participate in its momentum through an anime theme song. We also recall conversations we had with our friend, Hara-sensei, since our debut days. We have created an anthem about living diligently.”

Tomonari Sora commented: “The battles in ‘Kinguamu’ are truly clashes of convictions. To express that passion, we recorded everything from scratch, including the sound of armor rubbing, shouts, and even roars. The lyrics are embedded with devices that evoke the historical period and the world of the story. We have created a powerful song that brings to mind a scene where roars echo and great armies charge through. Please feel the sound of battle resonating in your chest alongside the sixth series. I am deeply honored to have been entrusted with the ending theme.”
