Thrilling Developments in Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Episode 46: The Forbidden Army Approaches!
Get ready for an intense new episode of the spring anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (also known as The Apothecary Diaries)! Ahead of the broadcast of Episode 46, titled “Kingun” (The Forbidden Army), on Friday, June 13, 2025, the synopsis and preview cuts have been revealed. Furthermore, after the episode airs, the full anime music video for the second cour’s opening theme, “Kusushiki” by Mrs. GREEN APPLE, will be unveiled.

Based on the light novel series by Hinata Natsu, published by Hero Bunko/Imagica Infos, Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is a palace mystery entertainment that has also received manga adaptations serialization in “Big Gangan” and “Sunday GX.” The series has sold over 40 million copies total. Set in a fictional East Asian-inspired imperial court during the Middle Ages, it follows Nekonome, a young girl who serves as a “poison taster” and solves various difficult incidents occurring within the palace.
The second season, which began airing in January 2025, has garnered significant attention, consistently ranking high on various streaming platforms. The excitement continues with the first-ever “TV Anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Exhibition” which started on March 26, and a collaboration event planned for Universal Studios Japan this summer.

Rouran has set fire to the gunpowder storage, and the fort is engulfed in flames. Nekonome reunites with Rouran and hears about her past and her feelings. Nekonome tries desperately to stop her, but Rouran, determined to do what she must, heads towards Shenmei. Nekonome makes a certain promise to her, hoping it might be enough.

Meanwhile, the Forbidden Army, the Emperor’s direct forces, is approaching the fort. Leading the army is Jinshi, clad in violet armor. Thus, the battle to suppress the Zi clan is about to begin.
