Fans can look forward to two new cast members joining the fray, the reveal of the opening theme song, and the main promotional video teasing what’s to come.
Premiere Details and Special Airing
Mark your calendars! The second season of **Kaijuu 8-gou**, which continues to adapt **Naoya Matsumoto**’s popular action sci-fi manga, is set to premiere on July 19 at 11:00 p.m. JST. You can catch the broadcast on TV Tokyo and other affiliated channels in Japan. For viewers outside of Japan, the anime will also be streamed simultaneously on X (formerly Twitter).
This follows the successful first season, which aired for 12 episodes during the Spring 2024 season. Crunchyroll streamed the first season with multiple subtitles and dubs.
Before the new season kicks off, fans can also enjoy a special treat. The side story episode titled **Hoshina no Kyuujitsu**, which had a limited three-week theatrical screening run in Japan starting March 28, will be airing on television. You can watch this special episode on July 5 at 11:00 p.m. JST, also on TV Tokyo and affiliated channels, and it will stream on X as well.

The Manga’s Journey
The anime is based on the popular manga by **Naoya Matsumoto**. He began drawing the series on Shueisha’s **Shounen Jump+** digital platform in July 2020. In Japan, the manga has been collected into 15 volumes, with the latest one released on March 4.
For English-speaking fans, VIZ Media licensed the manga back in February 2021. They released the 13th volume on June 3, and the 14th volume is currently planned for release on September 2.
