Many anime are produced in Japan every year, and the existence of manga is what supports this rich lineup.
In 2025, manga-based anime like 『Akuyaku Reijo Tensei Ojisan』, 『Witch Watch』, and 『Ninja to Koroshiya no Futari Gurashi』 are airing one after another, and many more titles are scheduled for adaptation.
Therefore, Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Manga you want to see animated? (First Half 2025)”, following up on the survey from the second half of 2024.
The survey targeted works that have not yet been animated or decided for animation, and was divided into two categories: ongoing works (currently serialized) and completed works (already finished serialization). We received responses from 360 people during the survey period from June 6 to June 15.
The gender ratio was approximately 30 percent male and 70 percent female, with more female respondents. By age group, respondents 19 and under made up about 35 percent, while those in their 20s and 30s each accounted for about 25 percent. This article presents the results for the completed works section.

■ Completed Works Section Also Full of Notable Titles!
In this survey, works by authors who have previously had their manga adapted into anime had a significant presence.
『Angou Gakuen no Iroha』 is a school mystery serialized in “Shukan Shonen Jump”. The original author is NisiOisin, a novelist known for representative works such as 『Bakemonogatari』 and 『Kubikiri Cycle Aoiro Savant to Zaregototsukai』.
Readers commented, “I’m curious how the code battles will be depicted in anime,” and “Starting with the protagonist Irohazaka Iroha, the characters are so unique that the voice actor lineup would likely be gorgeous,” and “This work is bursting with NisiOisin’s unique tempo and dialogue.” These comments express a desire to experience his one-of-a-kind style in animated form.
『Hanako to Guuwa no Teller』 is a bizarre mystery serialized in “Gekkan Shonen Ace”. It is the serialization debut work of manga artist Esuno Sakae, known for works adapted into TV anime, such as 『Mirai Nikki』 and 『Big Order』.
“The setting where urban legends materialize and attack humans is novel. It was interesting to see the detective, who is himself possessed by an urban legend, challenge bizarre cases together with his companion, the restroom’s Hanako-san,” was among the voices received, hoping for this unique world to be animated.
『Tenogeka』 is a medical manga serialized in “Shukan Shonen Sunday”, with artwork by Arai Takahiro, who handled 『Meitantei Conan Zero no Nichijo』 and 『Meitantei Conan Keisatsu Gakko Hen Wild Police Story』.
“There aren’t many medical anime, but I definitely want to see 『Tenogeka』 animated! The subject of a surgeon specializing in hands is new, and the surgery scenes are realistic. You can also feel the growth of the protagonist, Tezuka Isshin,” was a comment, with votes also going to this title which just concluded its serialization in May of this year.
As a work depicting the essential role of voice actors in anime, 『Tenshi to Act!!』 was popular again this time. Serialized in “Shukan Shonen Sunday”, it’s a story about a protagonist with an angelic high-tone voice who aims to become a voice actor.
A reader commented, “I can empathize with the protagonist Act’s growth and worries as if they were my own, and I find new discoveries every time I reread it. While it’s a work manga, I think it’s also a fantastic youth manga.” By the way, the latest work by this manga’s author, Hirakawa Aya, 『Teino Sanshimai wa Angai, Choroi.』, will have its TV anime broadcast starting in July 2025.
Titles related to works already adapted into anime also received votes.
For 『Kimetsu Gakuen!』, a comment was, “It’s a slapstick comedy where the Demon Slayer Corps and demons live together peacefully in a school. Seeing the characters who bore cruel fates in the main story enjoying peaceful days somehow makes me happy too.”
For 『Kaguya-sama wo Kataritai』, a comment said, “It’s an official spin-off of 『Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai ~Tensai-tachi no Ren’ai Zunosen~』. It’s depicted from the perspective of the Mass Media Club members, allowing you to enjoy new sides of the familiar characters. If it were animated, Kaguya-sama’s charm would surely double.”
For 『Chiruran Shinsengumi Chinkonka』, a comment stated, “『Chiruran Nibun no Ichi』 has been animated, but the main story hasn’t yet. Since Okita Souji and Kondo Isami appeared in the anime for 『Shuumatsu no Warukyure』 by the same original author, this one should definitely get animated too!”
■ Other Comments Introduced!
For 『Yugai Choujuu』, a comment said, “The battle between fantastical creatures and the witches who confront them is appealing. As a rare work that’s a comic adaptation of an illustration series, it seems like it would look great in animation.”
For 『Wagahai wa Neko de aru ga Inu』, a comment noted, “The protagonist is a cat with memories from his previous life as a dog. The ironic introduction, however, is that the person who saved him is a dog lover, which is funny. Many of the characters are kind, making it a heartwarming story.”
In the completed works section, votes were cast for a wide range of genres, including mystery, fantasy, comedy, and historical drama. A list of titles that received many votes is provided below.
