The “IDOLiSH7 ’16 STAR SIGNS’ 2025 Birthday Store” event is currently underway, celebrating the birthdays of the idols from the series. For Anime! Anime!, this event report project has become a monthly staple. This time, we bring you a look at the “Natume Minami / Rokuya Nagi Birthday Store,” which was held from June 1st to June 30th, 2025.
What is the ’16 STAR SIGNS’ 2025 Birthday Store?
IDOLiSH7 is a media mix project spearheaded by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, centered around a smartphone app game with the core concept of “idols who grow together with their companions.” The project has expanded through various media, including music, live performances, anime, books, and corporate tie-ups, aiming to cultivate idols through diverse platforms.
With its charming characters, captivating music, and engaging story, the series has garnered popularity alongside its original game. 2025 marks a significant milestone as the project celebrates its 10th anniversary, promising even greater excitement.
Looking ahead to the theatrical compilation film set for October 2025 and the highly anticipated announcement of a fourth anime season, managers are eagerly awaiting further updates.
The “’16 STAR SIGNS’ 2025 Birthday Store” is a special store event celebrating the birthdays of the 16 idols appearing in IDOLiSH7.
Each month, the store features exhibitions and sells commemorative goods tailored to the idols celebrating their birthdays. One of the highlights is the opportunity to listen to messages broadcast directly from the idols themselves!
Anime! Anime! has already published reports on the Birthday Stores for six idols so far, and this June marks the conclusion of the first half of the year-long event.
Two idols celebrate their birthdays in June: ZOOL’s Natume Minami-kun on June 8th, and IDOLiSH7’s Rokuya Nagi-kun on June 20th. What a beautiful pair of 19-year-olds!
Who is ZOOL’s Natume Minami-kun?
Minami-kun possesses a calm and gentle demeanor, serving as the intelligent core of ZOOL, always making cool-headed judgments to support the group. While his gentle appearance might suggest a “healing type” character, the gap between that and his sharp, sarcastic remarks or ability to hit the nail on the head is simply irresistible. He’s the type of idol you fall into a swamp with unknowingly and can’t escape!
As he grows alongside his companions in ZOOL, witnessing his gradual transformation as an idol is something that captures the hearts of many managers.
Who is IDOLiSH7’s Rokuya Nagi-kun?
Rokuya Nagi-kun is the bright and kind mood maker for IDOLiSH7. Just as you’re captivated by his overwhelming visual appeal and elegant demeanor, you’re suddenly caught off guard and made to laugh by his unique Japanese and enthusiastic anime otaku side. While this gap is addictive, there are also moments that make your heart skip a beat, seeing his delicate gaze looking out for his companions or his fleeting profile. He’s fun, beautiful, and a little bit melancholic – you’re sure to be completely smitten with him.
Absolutely Blissful for Eyes and Ears! Panels and In-Store Broadcasts of Minami and Nagi Will Make You Squeal!
Upon arriving at “BANDAI NAMCO Cross Store Tokyo” in Ikebukuro Sunshine City and approaching the venue, the sounds leaking out immediately brought a smile to my face.
Amazingly, the Birthday Store was broadcasting messages from Minami-kun and Nagi-kun, as well as playing their solo songs! My adrenaline was pumping even before I entered. Minami-kun’s calm, almost conversational tone contrasted perfectly with Nagi-kun’s incredibly happy, high-energy pace. The difference made me laugh out loud. Also, when my favorite songs, “Wonderful Octave -Nagi ver.-” and “Wonderful Octave -Minami ver.-,” started playing, I couldn’t help but inwardly pump my fist. The spoken parts in those songs are just *chef’s kiss* no matter how many times you listen.
And at the exhibition, life-sized acrylic stands surrounded by panels showcasing their past birthday outfits greet you! Their presence feels just like they’re really there.
Because they’re life-sized, their shadows felt surprisingly real. It was an unexpected moment that made my heart flutter (lol).
The exhibition panels featured many nostalgic cuts, allowing me to fully enjoy the two idols showing various expressions, both cool and cute.
In particular, the photos from their childhood, which caused a big stir when first released, were even more “sacred/precious!?” when viewed closely on the panels. I couldn’t help but scream that in my heart.
One image depicting a young Seto-denka and Nagi-kun, magnified on a large panel, exuded elegance. It was one of the most memorable exhibits that I couldn’t help but stop and admire.
Furthermore, near the exhibition panels, there are video panels where you can watch live scenes from MuBiNaNa (Gekijouban IDOLiSH7 LIVE 4bit BEYOND THE PERiOD). Seeing them move on screen was also incredibly exciting!
Don’t Miss the Limited Goods!
Just like with the previous birthday members, the merchandise lineup is extensive, including acrylic stands, birthday bromide photos, kan badges, tote bags, big towels, and more. The venue-exclusive item is Konpeitou candy made in collaboration with Ryokuju-an Shimizu, a specialty Konpeitou store in Kyoto. Minami-kun’s flavor is milk, and Nagi-kun’s is pineapple. Most goods, excluding the Konpeitou, can also be purchased online via the Nanairo Store, which is great news for managers who live far away!
Have You Tried the Fortune Latte Yet?
At the cafe corner inside “BANDAI NAMCO Cross Store Tokyo,” you can enjoy Fortune Lattes featuring the new 2025 birthday illustrations drawn by Totomame-sensei. The selection of chilled drinks is varied, including cafe latte, strawberry milk, banana milk, and even beef consommé soup (some are also available hot). They are perfect for easing the early summer heat.
