Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc Set for September 19 Release, Kenshi Yonezu Returns for Theme Song “IRIS OUT”

The movie Chainsaw Man Reze Arc is set to premiere nationwide in Japan on September 19, 2025. It has just been announced that Yonezu Kenshi will once again handle the theme song, following his work on the TV anime series. A powerful main trailer has also been unveiled, featuring this new theme song “IRIS OUT” and showing the abrupt shift from peaceful everyday life to a fierce battle against the “Bomb Devil,” promising intense action and drama. Additionally, cast members joining for this film have been revealed, including Takahashi Hidenori, Akabane Kenji, Nomura Kenji, and Kitamura Eri.

Chainsaw Man is a manga by the exceptionally talented Fujimoto Tatsuki-sensei, serialized in “Shonen Jump+”. Fujimoto-sensei is known for creating hit works like Fire Punch, Look Back, and Sayonara Eri. The Chainsaw Man series has surpassed 30 million copies in circulation. In 2022, a TV anime adaptation produced by the renowned studio MAPPA (known for Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan The Final Season) was broadcast. This anime gained high praise not only in Japan but also worldwide, being distributed in over 200 countries and regions.

Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc adapts the highly popular “Reze Arc” from the original manga, which directly follows the events of the TV anime’s final episode. The story follows the protagonist, Denji, as he is led astray by Reze, a girl he meets by chance who possesses a mysterious charm, plunging him into an unpredictable fate. The film promises the exhilarating battle action that is a hallmark of MAPPA’s work.

This exciting new information was announced during MAPPA’s talk event at “Anime Expo 2025,” one of the largest anime events in North America, held in Los Angeles, USA. Yonezu Kenshi will return to provide the theme song, titled “IRIS OUT”. This song will serve as the main theme for the film.

Yonezu-san’s opening theme for the TV anime series, “KICK BACK,” made history by becoming the first song with “Japanese lyrics” to be certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The anime’s opening sequence featuring the song has also exceeded 140 million views. Approximately three years after the massive global reaction to their previous collaboration, the team is reuniting once more.

The newly unveiled main trailer shows Denji’s emotions wavering between the Makima he admires and the girl with the mysterious charm, Reze, who suddenly appears. The scene then dramatically shifts to breathtakingly powerful combat, depicted in rapid succession set to the music of the theme song “IRIS OUT,” raising anticipation for the main feature to its peak.

Furthermore, additional cast members joining the film have been announced: Takahashi Hidenori-san, Akabane Kenji-san, Nomura Kenji-san, and Kitamura Eri-san. Takahashi-san will play the role of the Vice-Captain of Public Safety Devil Extermination Special Division 2, while Akabane-san will voice Nomo, also from Division 2. Nomura Kenji-san will portray a mysterious man targeting the “Chainsaw Devil’s heart,” and Kitamura Eri-san will voice the Typhoon Devil, a being with destructive power beyond measure. Comments from Yonezu-san, who created the theme song, and the newly announced cast members have also been released.

Public Safety Devil Extermination Special Division 2, Nomo: Akabane Kenji

I am Akabane Kenji, and I will be playing the role of Nomo in Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc. As a reader of Chainsaw Man myself, I thought, “Nomo… Nomo… Ah! That person…!” when I figured out who he was, but I never thought I’d be the one voicing him (lol). The animation was incredibly dynamic even during the recording stage, so I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished version. Mysterious Man: Nomura Kenji

I participated as the Mysterious Man, Nomura Kenji. This was my first time encountering the world of Chainsaw Man, and just as I expected, I felt it was packed with action, and the emotional expressions of the characters were wonderful. The recording session with the other cast members was enjoyable! There’s no doubt that this will turn out to be an interesting film! Typhoon Devil: Kitamura Eri

I am Kitamura Eri, and I will be participating as the Typhoon Devil. I had personally read the original manga, so I am honored to have been chosen for this work! I recorded while confirming the direction of the performance at the voice recording studio, so I’m really looking forward to the final result! Not only the Typhoon Devil’s actions, but the dynamic visuals are also incredibly impressive and overwhelming! Please look forward to it, everyone!

It was also announced that various advance tickets will go on sale sequentially starting July 18. The design for the Muvichike card (advance ticket) features the striking visual of Chainsaw Man from the teaser poster, which received significant attention upon its release. As a limited-quantity advance purchase bonus, a double-sided clear file featuring both Chainsaw Man and Reze will be included. An ultra-large Chainsaw Man Muvichike and Muvichike cards bundled with merchandise specific to different retailers have also been announced all at once, so fans will want to pick up their preferred version.
