Sousou no Frieren Season 2 Teaser PV Revealed! First Look at Main Story Footage & Must-Hear New Voice Clips for Frieren, Fern, and Stark! Airing January 2026
A teaser PV for the TV anime `Sousou no Frieren` Season 2 has been released. Along with footage from the main story featuring the main characters, new character voices for Frieren, Fern, and Stark were also revealed and are a must-listen.

TV anime `Sousou no Frieren` is based on a fantasy manga currently serialized in “Shounen Sunday”. Set in a world where the Demon King has been defeated by the hero’s party, the story follows Frieren, an elven mage who has lived for over a thousand years, and her journey meeting new people. The TV anime’s first season began broadcasting in 2023. The second season will start in January 2026 and is expected to cover from Chapter 61, found in volume 7 of the original manga.
The teaser PV for the second season has now been unveiled. Produced by Madhouse, the animation studio, the video features the protagonist Frieren, her apprentice mage Fern, and the warrior Stark, who travels with them. Furthermore, it shows glimpses of the hero Himmel, the priest Heiter, and the warrior Eisen, who once defeated the Demon King alongside Frieren, embarking on their own adventures.
The music for the PV is handled by Evan Call, who continues from Season 1 to compose the music for Season 2. New character voice recordings for the PV by Tanezaki Atsumi (playing Frieren), Ichinose Kana (playing Fern), and Kobayashi Chiaki (playing Stark) are featured, lyrically portraying the three as they deepen their bonds throughout their journey.
Along with the release of the teaser PV, the main staff for Season 2 has also been announced. The director will be Kitagawa Tomoya, who served as episode director lead for the second cour of Season 1. Harashina Daiki, who handled monster design and served as episode director and animation director for multiple episodes in Season 1, will be the assistant director. Saitou Keiichiro, the director of Season 1, will provide backup in a directorial cooperation role.
At the “Anime Expo 2025” event currently being held in Los Angeles, USA, Madhouse producer Fukushi Yuuichiro took the stage. Regarding the production system for this season, he commented, “In preparation for Season 2’s production, we discussed with the staff and assembled what we believe is a better directorial structure. Building upon the direction established by Saitou Keiichiro-san and the staff in Season 1, we will continue our creative challenges together with Harashina Daiki-san, who showcased his versatile abilities throughout Season 1, and Kitagawa Tomoya-san, who spearheaded many memorable episodes.”
Suzuki Tomohiro continues as the series composition and scriptwriter from Season 1. The character design will be handled by Takase Maru, Kojima Keisuke, and Fujinaka Yuri, who were active in the production of the main story in Season 1.

Story
In a world where the Demon King was defeated by the hero Himmel’s party, Frieren, an elven mage who has lived for over a thousand years and brought peace alongside Himmel and the others, sheds tears upon Himmel’s passing from old age. Motivated by her feelings for him, she embarks on a journey “to understand human hearts.” Along the way, she meets Fern, a mage raised by her former comrade Heiter, and Stark, a warrior who is a disciple of her comrade Eisen. Together, the three aim for `Aureole`, the place where souls rest. Interacting with people they meet on their journey, battling cunning demons and monsters, sometimes peacefully, sometimes foolishly, sometimes intensely, sometimes heartbreakingly… All of these moments, each fleeting second, accumulate as irreplaceable treasures for the three. What awaits them at the end of this journey?
