Get ready, book lovers! A brand new anime series for the beloved title Honzuki no Gekokujou has been announced. The new series, titled Honzuki no Gekokujou: Ryoushu no Youjo, is set to begin broadcasting in Spring 2026 on the Yomiuri TV and Nihon TV network nationwide in Japan. Accompanying this exciting news are the reveal of a striking teaser visual and a captivating teaser PV. Comments have also arrived from the main cast members, Iguchi Yuka-san, who voices Rosemaine, Hayami Shou-san, who voices Ferdinand, and the original author, Kazuki Miya-sensei.
Honzuki no Gekokujou: Ryoushu no Youjo is the latest anime adaptation based on Kazuki Miya-sensei’s “biblia fantasy” novel series, Honzuki no Gekokujou ~Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erande Iraremasen~, published by TO Books. The story follows Main, who, after being reborn into a world without books, strives to create them in <Ehrenfest>, a city ruled by nobles possessing magic. As sinister plots targeting the immense magical power she holds begin to close in, she chooses to live as the Lord’s adopted daughter, Rosemaine, fighting daily to protect her cherished family and companions.
This latest information was unveiled on July 6th, Japan time, at the “Anime Expo” held in Los Angeles, USA.
The new series is being animated by WIT STUDIO, known for their work on hits like SPY×FAMILY, Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3, and Shin Majinden YAIBA. The teaser visual and teaser PV were premiered globally ahead of their general release.
A panel discussion was also held at the Los Angeles venue, hosted by popular anime influencer Gigguk. The panel featured Wada Takeshi-san, CEO of WIT STUDIO; Shibata Tamotsu-san, Managing Director of TO Books; and Yoshida Takeshi-san, the anime producer, who engaged in a lively talk.
Regarding the PV footage, Wada Takeshi-san commented, “You can definitely expect WIT STUDIO’s quality. It’s packed with action, and the visuals are finished very clearly.” Shibata Tamotsu-san also expressed high expectations, stating, “With this partnership with WIT STUDIO, the quality of the visuals and action will improve more than ever before.” Yoshida Takeshi-san showed confidence in the future of the series, declaring, “We want to make Honzuki no Gekokujou the Japanese Harry Potter.” The panel concluded with a raffle, where lucky attendees received autographed shikishi (signed boards) from the speakers, followed by a commemorative photo with the entire audience, bringing the event to a successful close.
The newly released teaser visual and teaser PV beautifully depict the world of Ehrenfest as envisioned by WIT STUDIO. They vividly portray Rosemaine’s magical power and her passionate love for books.
Original author Kazuki Miya-sensei also commented on the PV’s excellent execution: “If you watch the PV, you’ll get a good sense of the anime’s atmosphere. How about Rosemaine as a noble? Isn’t she cute? The composition allows you to see the noble quarter, of course, but also glimpses of her lower city family and the temple workshop through flashbacks. They have magnificently animated the noble society where magic overflows all around. Please watch the PV carefully while eagerly awaiting the broadcast in Spring 2026.”
Furthermore, comments have arrived from Iguchi Yuka-san, who plays the protagonist Rosemaine, and Hayami Shou-san, who plays Ferdinand. Iguchi-san exclaimed, “Yay~~! Everyone, thank you for waiting!!! The anime! The new series is starting!!! I had the PV recording recently, and the animation is incredibly beautiful! The new characters we’ve been waiting for will also be appearing one after another! My heart is pounding with anticipation.”
Hayami-san shared his enthusiasm, saying, “Main, as Rosemaine, the Lord’s adopted daughter, is stepping into a rapid current. It looks like Ferdinand’s headaches are going to increase even more (lol). As for me, playing scenes with emotional fluctuations is more fun, so I welcome it! Please look forward to the anime.”
The new series of the Honzuki no Gekokujou anime, Honzuki no Gekokujou: Ryoushu no Youjo, is scheduled to air from Spring 2026 on the Yomiuri TV and Nihon TV network nationwide on Saturdays at 5:30 PM (JST), excluding some regions. It will also be broadcast on TOKYO MX, with the broadcast time yet to be determined. We eagerly await further updates!

When I first saw the teaser visual, I was breathless at the beauty of the blessing.
The image is Rosemaine, having become High Priest, performing the Star-Binding Ceremony.
It’s a blessing from the supreme divine couple, the God of Darkness and the God of Light, but isn’t it wonderful how they were able to depict the blessing of Darkness so divinely?
It’s black, yet it’s not ominous!
Because of that, I think Rosemaine is portrayed very much like a saint.
If you watch the PV, you’ll get a good sense of the anime’s atmosphere.
