July 26th is designated as “Ghost Day.”
This date commemorates the first performance of the Kabuki play “Toukaidou Yotsuya Kaidan” on the same day in 1825.
When you think of summer, ghost stories likely come to mind for many people. As the weather gets warmer, there’s a certain thrill in enjoying horror anime that sends a chill down your spine.
Whether it’s ghosts who linger in the human world with unresolved feelings, stories that chase the mystery of inexplicable events, or bizarre beings that suddenly appear… The styles vary widely. Some are emotional, tinged with sadness and pathos beneath the terror, while others are full-fledged horror that spreads gradually.
That’s why Anime! Anime! is conducting a reader poll titled “What comes to mind when you think of ‘horror/ghost story’ anime?”. Please provide your answers in a free-response format with the title you have in mind.
