The Intense Onigokko Challenge Continues
In Episode 4, titled ‘Cooperate,’ the new students, including Ichinose Shiki, continued to face the high-stakes ‘onigokko’ (tag) game, where losing meant immediate expulsion. The rules of this intense game were simple yet challenging: within the time limit, find a ball hidden somewhere on the field, possess it, and return to school without being caught by the instructor, Mudano Mujin (CV: Kamiya Hiroshi). As the time limit rapidly approached, Byoobugaura Hoki (CV: Iwami Manaka), who was on the same team as Ichinose Shiki, was forced to retire, and Kougasaki Jin found himself restrained by Mudano.
At this critical juncture, Mudano Mujin produced one ball and presented Ichinose Shiki with a stark choice: “Either find the remaining ball and reach the goal within 5 minutes and 30 seconds, or snatch it from me.” Faced with this dilemma, Ichinose Shiki chose to assist Kougasaki Jin, despite their usual strained relationship, opting to cooperate with him to seize the ball from Mudano.
Kougasaki Jin’s Unexpected Tsundere Moment
In the midst of the escalating struggle, the ball finally dislodged from Mudano Mujin and rolled close to Kougasaki Jin. Ichinose Shiki, ever straightforward and focused on the immediate task, completely forgot that if Kougasaki Jin scored, only Kougasaki Jin would secure the victory. Enthusiastically, Ichinose Shiki cheered, “Alright! Grab it quickly and score!” Kougasaki Jin, momentarily bewildered, initially dashed off to claim the victory for himself, but then, to everyone’s surprise, he suddenly turned back. With a defiant expression, he extended the ball to Ichinose Shiki, declaring, “Don’t misunderstand! I just hate owing you twice! Even if I get expelled, I’ll achieve my goals alone. So, you go and score!”
Although typically cold towards Ichinose Shiki, Kougasaki Jin’s unexpected display of kindness generated a significant buzz online. Fans flooded the internet with comments like, “Tsundere Kougasaki-kun is truly too good!” and “It was so great when Jin came back!”
About Toogen Anki
Toogen Anki is based on the popular manga by Urushibara Yuuki, serialized in Shuukan Shoonen Champion (Akita Shooten). This new generation dark hero Oni (demon) tale draws inspiration from the classic Japanese folktale “Momotaroo,” a story known by virtually every Japanese person. It vividly portrays the intense conflict between those who inherit the blood of Oni and those who descend from Momotaroo. The story kicks off when a young boy, Ichinose Shiki, who had been living a normal life as a human, is suddenly attacked by a mysterious man affiliated with the “Momotaroo Kikan” (Momotaroo Organization).
Episode 4: ‘Cooperate’
Synopsis
Having successfully achieved Kesshoku Kaihoo (Blood Erosion Release), Ichinose Shiki manages to defeat the Blood Giant with a gun he created. However, due to excessive blood usage, he becomes incapacitated. Meanwhile, Kougasaki Jin, without regard for the fallen Ichinose Shiki or Byoobugaura Hoki, challenges Mudano Mujin, adhering to a special rule: “Killing the Oni role grants immediate graduation.” Despite his determination, he is defeated without even managing to scratch Mudano, who isn’t even using his Oni blood power. With very little time remaining, finding the ball—the condition for victory—seems incredibly difficult. Nevertheless, Ichinose Shiki refuses to give up and proposes teaming up with Kougasaki Jin. Together, they brilliantly succeed in snatching the ball from Mudano Mujin. Although Kougasaki Jin initially attempts to monopolize the victory upon acquiring the ball, he returns to Ichinose Shiki, not wishing to be indebted. At that precise moment, Baku Muttsun of “Bakusoku Tsuushin” (Baku Speed Communication) arrives, carrying a certain piece of news.
