These stunning new visuals offer a delightful fusion of beloved anime characters with Kyoto’s iconic scenery.

About Kyomaf: A Hub for Content Culture in Kyoto
Known colloquially as “Kyomaf” (an abbreviation for KYOTO INTERNATIONAL MANGA ANIME FAIR), this event first launched in 2012. Its primary objectives include supporting the creation of new businesses utilizing manga and anime, fostering the development of creators, generating employment opportunities, attracting new tourists including youth and international visitors, and elevating Kyoto’s brand as a content city through the global dissemination of manga and anime culture. Now in its 14th iteration, Kyomaf stands as Western Japan’s premier manga, anime, and game festival.
As one of the few large-scale content events in Western Japan, Kyomaf draws a massive number of attendees each year, including dedicated manga, anime, and game fans. Beyond simply entertaining visitors, the event also plays a significant role in promoting local industry by supporting creators within Kyoto City and contributing to the growth of anime and game production companies. It truly is a major annual event for Kyoto.
Discovering Kyoto’s Hidden Gems with Collaboration Visuals
The recently unveiled “Kyomaf Collaboration Visuals” are special illustrations, some newly drawn exclusively for the event, featuring popular anime characters set against the backdrop of Kyoto’s charming landscapes. This year’s theme is “Totteoki no Kyoto” (Our Special Kyoto), highlighting six distinct “special” spots within Kyoto that possess a unique, lesser-known allure, serving as the perfect stage for these beloved characters.

Specifically, the collaboration visuals feature: *Kaijuu 8-gou* at Biwako Sosui Kinenkan; *Seishun Buta Yarou wa Santa Claus no Yume wo Minai* at Ooharano Jinja; *Dandadan* at Oohara Sanzen-in; *Tougen Anki* at Kurama Eki (Kurama Station); *Hikari ga Shinda Natsu* at Yase Hieizan-guchi Eki (Yase Hieizan-guchi Station); and *Lycoris Recoil* at Kyoto Takao Momijiya (Takao no Kawadoko), an open-air restaurant by the river. At the event venue, visitors will be able to enjoy exhibitions showcasing these “Kyomaf Collaboration Visuals” and purchase exclusive original merchandise.
Exclusive Merchandise and Delicious Cafe Treats Await!

Beyond the collaboration goods, the Kyomaf Shop will also offer merchandise featuring this year’s main visual, which showcases Kyou no Tsukasa, the Kyoto City public relations character, and Uzumasa Moe, the Kyoto City Transportation Bureau subway and bus support character. Expect a wide array of goods, from classic fan favorites like acrylic keyholders and clear files, to perfect souvenirs such as Yatsuhashi (a traditional Kyoto confection) and local tea.

What’s more, the “Kyomaf Cafe Stand” will be serving original Kyomaf food and drinks within the character cafe area. As a special treat, for every eligible menu item purchased, guests will receive one random coaster featuring the “Kyomaf Collaboration Visuals.” Inside the CAFE & BBQ TERRACE ABURU restaurant at Miyakomesse, visitors can also savor original menu items devised by the “Okoshiyasu Taishi” (Welcome Ambassadors), Okamoto Nobuhiko and Ishimi Manaka.
Exciting Attractions for All Ages

In commemoration of the release of *Gekijouban Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen-jou Hen Dai Isshou Akaza Sairai* (*Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie – Mugen Castle Arc Chapter 1: Akaza Reborn*), the special “Mugen-jou Gou” vehicle, which is currently touring Japan, will make an appearance at Kyomaf 2025, alongside the adorable Mini Taishi Kamado Tanjirou. Families attending with children will definitely want to visit the Family Corner, which offers a packed schedule of activities, including character greetings with popular mascots like Rascal, hands-on workshops, and traditional industry experiences.
