The Four Heavenly Kings of “Reiwa’s Yabai Onna Characters” Revealed! A Joint Fair by Four Publishers Featuring “Kasu no Uso,” “Noa Senpai wa Tomodachi.,” “Mochizuki-san,” and “Heisei Haizanhei Sumire-chan”
Shueisha, Hakusensha, KADOKAWA, and Koudansha — four publishers have joined forces to launch the “Reiwa no Yabai Onna Fair” starting September 5, 2025, at participating bookstores. This event aims to energize bookstores by bringing together a carefully selected lineup of “yabai onna characters” (intense/unpredictable female characters), with special collaboration postcards being distributed.
The “Reiwa no Yabai Onna Fair” spotlights four popular manga titles: Hakusensha’s Doka-gui Daisuki! Mochizuki-san, Shueisha’s Noa Senpai wa Tomodachi., KADOKAWA’s Downer-kei Onee-san ni Mainichi Kasu no Uso wo Nagashikomareru Hanashi, and Koudansha’s Heisei Haizanhei Sumire-chan.
Doka-gui Daisuki! Mochizuki-san is a boundary-pushing gourmet gag manga, where the protagonist “reaches enlightenment” through calorie overdoses from her extreme eating habits. Noa Senpai wa Tomodachi. delivers a slightly sweet yet subtly heavy office “companion” comedy. Downer-kei Onee-san ni Mainichi Kasu no Uso wo Nagashikomareru Hanashi is an everyday comedy that chronicles the unique time spent with an Onee-san figure who constantly tells “scummy” lies. Finally, Heisei Haizanhei Sumire-chan follows a former struggling idol as she attempts to make a triumphant comeback in the current Reiwa era.
During the fair, if you purchase one of the eligible manga titles (including previously released volumes), you’ll receive one special collaboration postcard. There are two captivating designs to collect: the “Bijo Version,” which showcases the “front” or beautiful side of the four characters, and the “Yaba Onna Version,” which reveals their “back” or more intense and unpredictable facets.
