Natsume Yuujinchou: Nyanko-sensei Joyfully Under an Umbrella, Featuring Tanuma Kaname’s Birthday Project! Shibuya POP UP SHOP Opens

A POP UP SHOP for the TV anime Natsume Yuujinchou is currently being held at MAGNET by SHIBUYA109 in Shibuya, Tokyo, starting from September 12, 2025. Located on the 5th floor at AMNIBUS STORE, this special event will run until September 28, offering advance sales of merchandise featuring newly drawn illustrations and more.

About Natsume Yuujinchou

Natsume Yuujinchou is a captivating tale of ayakashi contracts, based on the manga by Midorikawa Yuki, serialized in “Monthly LaLa.” The story follows Natsume Takashi, a lonely young man who harbors the secret ability to see youkai. Ever since he inherited the “Yuujinchou” (Book of Friends) from his grandmother Reiko, who possessed immense spiritual power, Natsume has found himself relentlessly pursued by various youkai. Alongside his self-proclaimed bodyguard, Nyanko-sensei, Natsume navigates a busy life centered around the “contracts” his grandmother made with these supernatural beings.

The TV anime series first aired its initial season in 2008, with six seasons broadcast to date. The protagonist, Natsume Takashi, is voiced by Kamiya Hiroshi, while Nyanko-sensei is brought to life by Inoue Kazuhiko. In September 2018, the series saw its first full-length original theatrical film, followed by a limited theatrical screening in January 2021 of two popular short episodes cherished by fans. The highly anticipated seventh season, Natsume Yuujinchou Uru, premiered on October 7, 2024.
