Exciting new information has just dropped for the anime Hokuto no Ken -FIST OF THE NORTH STAR-. Takagi Wataru will be lending his voice to Jagi, Mogami Tsuguo will play Toki, and Kusunoki Taiten is set to voice Raoh! Hokuto no Ken is a legendary manga series by Buronson (story) and Hara Tetsuo (art), originally serialized in “Weekly Shounen Jump” from 1983 to 1988. Set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by nuclear war, where civilization has crumbled and violence reigns supreme, the story follows Kenshirou, the successor to the deadly Hokuto Shinken martial art. Burdened by love and sorrow, he embarks on a journey to become a savior for humanity.
The series was first adapted into a TV anime in 1984 and has since seen numerous multimedia adaptations. With the upcoming broadcast and distribution of the new anime, Hokuto no Ken -FIST OF THE NORTH STAR- in 2026, the saga is poised for an exciting new chapter!
On September 13th, a special program, “Hokuto no Ken Day!! All Four Brothers Gathered!! ~Anime New Information Release Special~”, was streamed, unveiling the latest exciting news. Promotional videos for the new cast were released as part of the announcement.
First, the voice cast for the Hokuto Four Brothers has been officially decided! Takagi Wataru will take on the role of the cunning third brother, Jagi, while Mogami Tsuguo will voice the compassionate second brother, Toki. Finally, the mighty eldest brother, Raoh, will be brought to life by Kusunoki Taiten. These new additions join Takeuchi Shunsuke as Kenshirou, Yamashita Daiki as Bat, and M・A・O as Rin, whose roles were previously announced. Fans are eagerly anticipating the dynamic interactions between this stellar new cast!
Character image visuals for the Hokuto Four Brothers, along with character introduction promotional videos, have also been released. These PVs offer a thrilling opportunity to hear each character’s iconic lines even before the anime’s broadcast, building up the anticipation!
In another exciting development, the official spin-off work, Hokuto no Ken Ken-Oh-Gun Zakotachi no Banka, is getting a short anime adaptation! It’s set to begin broadcast and distribution in January 2026. This hilarious series chronicles the harsh daily life of Nobu, a protagonist who unwittingly finds himself employed by Raoh’s army, the Ken-Oh-Gun.

It’s an honor to play Jagi in the legendary anime Hokuto no Ken, which is being revived after 40 years. I hope everyone thoroughly enjoys this newly reborn world of Hokuto no Ken, which inherits the surging power and human drama I felt back then. Since it was also a pre-score recording, I’m personally very excited to see the final product.

“Oreno na o ittemiro~~” (Say my name~~)

Naturally, it has to be Jagi!
Q4. Your first encounter with Hokuto no Ken.
I remember borrowing and reading it from a friend, and “Omae wa mou shindeiru” (You are already dead) was heard everywhere, wasn’t it? I recall feeling like I had become stronger myself (laughs).
Q5. What is necessary to survive in the world of the apocalypse?
Belief. Without this, you wouldn’t be able to live. Who do you think is the successor of Hokuto Shinken? There is no younger brother superior to his older brother!! Haha bababa bawa!!
Toki Voice Actor: Mogami Tsuguo
Q1. Your thoughts on this work.
The moment it was decided that I would be Toki, I immediately went to report it to the late Utsumi Kenji-kaichou, chairman of my agency, Ken Production. I felt as if the chairman was saying, in his voice, “Oh, Mogami is Toki. Do your best.” I feel like a very heavy responsibility has been entrusted to me, both for the work itself and for Ken Production. I intend to embrace this weight and enjoy the journey.
Q2. Your favorite line from Hokuto no Ken.
There are many, but it has to be: “Chikai no toki wa kita! Ima watashi wa anata o koeru!!” (The time of my vow has come! Now I will surpass you!!)
Q3. Your favorite character.
Toki, of course! …But there are so many passionate men in Hokuto no Ken that I love them all… I especially like characters like Shuu, Fudou, Ain, and Falco, who have strong things they protect.
Q4. Your first encounter with Hokuto no Ken.
I was born in ’80, so I think the first time I consciously encountered it was the anime rather than the manga. The whole world was swept up in a Hokuto boom, and playing “pressure point” games was popular (laughs). Then, when I was around fourth grade, I read the manga, and I was captivated by its passion, love, and way of life—it was so cool.
Q5. What is necessary to survive in the world of the apocalypse?
A smile and non-resistance! Just kidding! (laughs) That being said, I really don’t think I could survive in that apocalyptic world… I just want to somehow reach a miracle village (after Toki arrives) or a village protected by Falco…
Raoh Voice Actor: Kusunoki Taiten
Q1. Your thoughts on this work.
Hokuto no Ken is a national masterpiece, and for me, it’s a part of my youth. When it was originally broadcast, I was still a student, and the day after an episode, discussions about Hokuto no Ken would light up. Even after becoming a voice actor, my feelings for this work have never faded; it’s a foundational text. The original voice actors are also greatly respected figures in the industry, so even auditioning for the role brought immense pressure. And now, having overcome that challenge, I face an even greater pressure as I take on this role. Yet, within me, there is a far greater joy, and it is a tremendous honor to be able to perform and be involved in this work. All of these emotions are welling up in my heart as a burning passion. I will participate with the utmost love until the very end.

Rin: “Kenshirou, Yuria-san, Yuria-san is alive!”
Kenshirou: “What?! Haah haah… Hmph!”

It was through the TV anime. I watched it from high school, and I remember often practicing pressure points during my vocational school days. Afterward, I bought all the comic volumes, and I’ve sold and re-bought them about three times when I ran out of money.

Friendship that overcomes sorrow, and ultimately, the power of love.
