About Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries)
Hyuuga Natsu’s Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, originally a novel series published under “Hero Bunko,” is a captivating palace mystery-solving entertainment. It follows the story of Maomao, a young girl working as a “poison taster” in the imperial rear palace, who finds herself constantly solving perplexing cases, often at the behest of the enigmatic eunuch, Jinshi-sama. The series has also inspired two manga adaptations, currently serialized in “Monthly Big Gangan” and “Monthly Sunday GX,” each offering a unique artistic take on the beloved story.
The first season of the TV anime adaptation premiered in October 2023, captivating audiences with its intriguing mysteries and engaging characters over 24 episodes. Its compelling narrative earned it a special award at the “TVer Award 2023,” cementing its popularity. Fans can look forward to the second season, which is set to air for two consecutive cours starting in January 2025, with production for a sequel already confirmed, promising even more adventures with Maomao and Jinshi-sama.
