The highly anticipated live-action film adaptation of WIND BREAKER is set to electrify audiences starting December 5, 2025. Today, a collection of eight dynamic scene photos has been unveiled, offering a thrilling glimpse into the film’s main characters, portrayed by a star-studded cast, the heartwarming drama, and the exhilarating action that awaits.

WIND BREAKER is a captivating manga by Nii Satoru, which first began its serialization in “Magazine Pocket” in 2021. This series has garnered explosive popularity thanks to its refreshing premise, which boldly overturns the conventional image of delinquents by portraying them as heroes of the town. With its deeply charismatic characters and emotional storylines where rival factions connect through fierce battles, it has truly captured the hearts of many.

The series saw its highly anticipated TV anime adaptation in 2024, quickly dominating viewership rankings across various streaming services. Its success continued with a second season airing swiftly in April 2025. In a mere four years since its inception, the series has sold over 10 million copies worldwide and its momentum shows no signs of slowing down, with successful stage plays and even game adaptations further expanding its universe.

The live-action film, slated for release on December 5, 2025, is helmed by director Hagiwara Kentaro, renowned for crafting poignant youth films such as Blue Period and Sayonara Made no 30-pun (which can be translated as “Our 30-Minute Sessions”). The gripping screenplay is penned by Masaike Yousuke, an acclaimed writer who took home the “Japan Academy Film Prize” for Best Screenplay for his work on Haken Anime!.

The impressive cast bringing the world of WIND BREAKER to life is equally exciting. Mizukami Koushi leads the charge as the protagonist, Sakura Haruka, a key member of Boofuurin, the righteous delinquent group dedicated to protecting their town. He is joined by Kido Taisei as Nirei Akihiko, Tsuna Keito as Suo Hayato, and JUNON of BE:FIRST fame as Sugishita Kyoutarou. Nakazawa Motoki takes on the role of Hiiragi Touma, while Uesugi Shuuhei embodies Umemiya Hajime. Adding a touch of warmth to their daily lives, Yagi Rikako plays Tachibana Kotoha, the charming café employee who watches over Sakura and his companions. On the antagonist side, Yamashita Kouki portrays Toomiyama Chouji, the leader of the formidable Shishitouren, who set their sights on Boofuurin, with Hamao Noritaka playing his loyal vice-leader, Togame Jou. The film’s powerful theme song, “Stay Strong,” is performed by the popular dance and vocal group BE:FIRST, to which actor JUNON belongs.

This latest unveiling from the film brings forth a collection of captivating scene photos, each capturing pivotal “moments of resolve.” These images powerfully convey the emotions poured into every punch, the burgeoning bonds formed with new companions, and the ominous presence of the most formidable rival group.

Among them, a particularly striking main visual brings together an incredible assembly of key characters. We see the first-year Boofuurin members—Sakura (Mizukami), Nirei (Kido), Suo (Tsuna), and Sugishita (JUNON)—alongside Kotoha (Yagi Rikako), who runs their beloved haven, “Kissa Potosu.” Even the antagonists from the rival Shishitouren, Toomiyama (Yamashita) and Togame (Hamao), are prominently featured. The screen radiates an overwhelming presence, brought forth by this stellar cast, with the graffiti-style “WIND BREAKER” text subtly emerging from the background. This visual is designed to ignite excitement in viewers, providing a tantalizing preview of the intense battles that are about to unfold.

Further, additional photos have also been released, providing exhilarating glimpses of the intense action sequences featuring Sakura and his fellow characters, along with hints of the heartfelt human drama. We see Sakura’s new companions from Boofuurin, including the well-informed Nirei. Despite not being a strong fighter himself, Nirei has a fascinating hobby of collecting data on cool and powerful individuals. From Sakura’s very first day at school, Nirei has been utterly captivated by his impressive fighting skills, and it’s clear that Sakura’s details are now starting to fill the pages of Nirei’s secret notebook, which is already a treasure trove of information on various formidable fighters.

His unique fighting style, reminiscent of Kung Fu or Aikido, promises to deliver spectacular battles, building high anticipation for his on-screen prowess.

Sugishita, recognized as the school’s strongest brawler, wields overwhelming power, leveraging his towering stature to execute formidable moves. He is depicted slamming opponents to the ground with incredible force, his distinctive long hair dramatically flowing. Although this film marks JUNON’s debut in both acting and action, his commanding presence is set to utterly dominate the screen.

Standing defiantly against the Boofuurin are the Shishitouren, the most fearsome group who live by an unwavering belief in absolute strength. In stark contrast to Boofuurin’s unified green gakuran uniforms, the Shishitouren members are clad in striking orange sukajan jackets, presenting a visually distinct and menacing front. This formidable collective of fighters is spearheaded by their ruthless leader, Toomiyama.

Toomiyama, driven by an insatiable desire for strength, eagerly seeks to overpower and claim Boofuurin. Yet, beneath his unsettling smile, a painful longing subtly lurks. Togame, the vice-leader, is a staunch believer in his chilling creed: “Shishitouren doesn’t need weaklings.” He adheres to this principle with unwavering loyalty and is destined to engage in a fierce, one-on-one battle to the death with Sakura. The photos already vividly convey the raw intensity of this impending confrontation, making the anticipation for the film’s main narrative utterly irresistible.
