About Yomi no Tsugai
*Yomi no Tsugai* is the highly anticipated latest work by Arakawa Hiromu, the celebrated creator of the masterpiece *Hagane no Renkinjutsushi* (also known as *Fullmetal Alchemist*), which continues to receive fervent support from fans both in Japan and around the world. This “phantom fantasy” (genkai fantasy) is a captivating blend of mystery and the bizarre, based on the manga currently serialized in Monthly *Shonen Gangan*.
Synopsis
The story introduces us to Yuru, a boy living a tranquil life in a small village nestled deep in the mountains, where he hunts wild birds and coexists with nature. However, Yuru’s twin sister, Asa, is mysteriously confined within a jail cell deep inside the village, seemingly fulfilling an “otsutome” (duty or service) as if she were imprisoned. What are the unsettling mysteries that disturb this otherwise peaceful village? What secrets are hidden beneath its serene façade? Prepare to witness a thrilling new kind of “Tsugai Battle,” where enigma and the inexplicable intertwine in a unique fashion.
Production Team and Cast
Following in the footsteps of the *Hagane no Renkinjutsushi* anime series, which aired and was released from 2003 to 2011, this TV anime is being brought to life by a powerful collaborative team comprising Square Enix, Aniplex, and Bones. Directing this fantastical journey is Andou Masahiro, renowned for his work on action-packed titles such as *Stranger: Mukou Hadan* (Sword of the Stranger) and *Zetsuen no Tempest* (Blast of Tempest).
The main staff also boasts a formidable lineup of talented creators. Arai Nobuhiro, recognized for his contributions to *Bungo Stray Dogs*, is taking on the crucial roles of character design and chief animation director. Takagi Noboru, known for his compelling series compositions in *Durarara!!* and *Golden Kamuy*, is in charge of the series’ overall structure. And the evocative musical score will be crafted by Suehiro Kenichiro, who has previously composed for popular series like *Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu* (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-) and *Golden Kamuy*.
