About the Exhilarating World of 『Hyakuen.』

『Hyakuen.』 is a theatrical anime adaptation of the debut serialized work by the brilliant mangaka Uoto sensei, who gained widespread acclaim and became the youngest recipient of the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize’s Manga Grand Prize for his later work, 『Chi. -Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite-』 (also known as “Chikyū no Undō ni Tsuite” or “Earth’s Revolution”). The film plunges viewers into the intense world of track and field, portraying the sheer madness and burning passion of individuals captivated by the fleeting glory of the “100m” dash—a moment that lasts less than ten seconds. Directing this captivating story is the talented Iwaizawa Kenji Kantoku, an acclaimed creator whose first feature film, 『Ongaku』 (also known as “On-Gaku: Our Sound”), was nominated for a prestigious Annie Award, often dubbed the “Academy Awards of Animation,” and received high praise at numerous film festivals both domestically and internationally.

Stellar Voice Cast and Gripping Theme Song

Bringing these dynamic characters to life is an impressive ensemble of voice actors. Matsuzaka Toori lends his voice to Togashi, a “talent-type” runner naturally blessed with incredible speed. His rival and companion, Komiya, a “diligence-type” who becomes deeply engrossed in the 100m dash after meeting Togashi, is voiced by Sometani Shouta. The vibrant world of “100m” is further enriched by a luxurious cast of 12 voice actors, including Uchiyama Kouki and Tsuda Kenjirou, who breathe life into the characters surrounding Togashi and Komiya.

The film’s emotional depth is further amplified by its powerful theme song, “Rashisa,” a brand-new track specially written for the film by Official HIGE DANdism, marking their first release in eight months. The band members were profoundly moved by the original manga, leading to this fantastic collaboration that paints the film with maximum energy and emotion.

A Smashing Box Office Success!

Since its premiere on September 19 in 203 theaters across Japan, 『Hyakuen.』 has sprinted to a magnificent start, ranking 2nd in Filmarks’ opening day satisfaction ranking and making its debut at 8th in the weekend attendance charts. We are thrilled to announce that as of October 19, in just 31 days of its release, the film has drawn an impressive 362,462 spectators and amassed a spectacular box office revenue of 533,355,200 yen, officially breaking the 500 million yen mark!
