Get Ready for More Romance and Comedy! “Saijo no Osewa” Light Novel is Getting an Anime!

An Exciting Anime Adaptation is On Its Way!

Get ready for a delightful dose of romantic comedy and charming antics because a new anime adaptation has just been greenlit! The beloved light novel series, Saijo no Osewa: Takane no Hanadarake na Meimonkou de, Gakuin Ichi no Ojousama Seikatsu Nouryoku Kaimu) wo Kagenagara Osewa suru Koto ni Narimashita, is officially getting an anime! This fantastic news was revealed by HJ Bunko label’s official X account (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, much to the excitement of fans.

Often referred to simply as Saijo no Osewa, this series, also known as Rich Girl Caretaker: I’m Secretly the Caregiver of the Most Popular Girl in This Rich Kid School in its English translation, promises to bring its unique blend of heartwarming moments and hilarious situations to the screen.

From Web Novel Sensation to Print Success

The journey of Saijo no Osewa began with its creator, Yuusaku Sakaishi, who first started penning this engaging romantic comedy on the popular Shousetsuka ni Narou website back in April 2020. Its charming premise quickly captured readers’ hearts, leading to its eventual publication.

Hobby Japan recognized its potential and began publishing the series under their HJ Bunko imprint in May 2021. These delightful volumes feature the beautiful illustrations of Sakura Miwabe, adding an extra layer of visual appeal to Sakaishi’s storytelling. The series has been steadily growing, with the tenth volume having shipped recently on May 30th, and the eleventh volume set to hit shelves very soon this Friday.

A Visual Treat: The Manga Adaptation

If you prefer your stories with panels and speech bubbles, you’re in luck! The charming world of Saijo no Osewa also received a fantastic manga adaptation, with Sorahiko Mizushima bringing the characters to life through art. This manga serialization kicked off on Hobby Japan’s Comic Fire website in July 2021 and has been captivating readers ever since. The fourth volume of the manga went on sale earlier this year, on July 1st, offering another way for fans to dive into Itsuki and Hinako’s story.

Unraveling the Story: What is “Saijo no Osewa” About?

At its heart, Saijo no Osewa is a heartwarming and hilarious tale centered around Itsuki Tomonari, a high school boy whose life takes an unexpected turn after getting caught up in a kidnapping incident. This twist of fate leads him to become the personal caretaker for Hinako Konohana, a young lady from one of Japan’s most powerful conglomerates.

Hinako presents herself to the world as the epitome of perfection: brilliant, charming, and utterly graceful. She’s the “perfect young lady” at school, maintaining a flawless facade due to strict family expectations. However, behind closed doors, Hinako holds a delightful secret: she’s incredibly lazy and completely inept when it comes to basic life skills! She can’t cook, clean, or even manage simple daily tasks.

Itsuki, seeing her true, vulnerable self and wanting to protect her reputation and well-being, takes on the role of her dedicated caregiver. He looks after her with an abundance of patience and kindness, handling everything from her meals to her daily schedule. As Itsuki meticulously cares for her, Hinako begins to develop deep feelings for him, moving beyond their initial master-servant dynamic.

Her dependency and affection grow, leading to moments where she genuinely expresses her feelings, confessing, “Now…if Itsuki isn’t around, I would hate it.” This romantic comedy masterfully explores their evolving relationship, starting with a delightful “gap moe” young lady and her attentive caretaker, blossoming into a unique love story that transcends their social standings.
