A Dive into the World of Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen, a dark fantasy manga by Akutami Gege, plunges readers into a world where curses born from negative human emotions battle against Jujutsu Sorcerers. The series first began its serialization in Shueisha’s “Weekly Shonen Jump” in March 2018, concluding its impactful six-and-a-half-year run in September 2024. With over 100 million copies in circulation, including digital editions, its popularity is undeniable. Following the main story’s conclusion, a near-future spin-off titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo (written by Akutami Gege, art by Iwasaki Yuuji) has also begun a short-term concentrated serialization starting September 2025.

The TV anime adaptation, produced by MAPPA, first aired in 2020 on MBS and TBS networks. Its highly anticipated second season, “Kaigyoku Gyokusetsu / Shibuya Jihen” (Hidden Inventory / Shibuya Incident Arc), aired in 2023. The excitement continues with the upcoming third season, “Shibutsu Kaiyuu Zenpen” (Culling Game Part 1), set to premiere in January 2026. Leading up to this, a theatrical compilation of “Kaigyoku Gyokusetsu” was screened in May 2025, and from October 17th, Gekijouban Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (Jujutsu Kaisen 0 the Movie), a massive hit that grossed 26.5 billion yen worldwide, returned to theaters for revival screenings.

Further intensifying the build-up to Season 3, Gekijouban Jujutsu Kaisen “Shibuya Jihen Tokubetsu Henshuban” x “Shibutsu Kaiyuu Senkou Jouei” (Jujutsu Kaisen The Movie “Shibuya Incident Special Edition” x “Culling Game Advance Screening”) is slated for release on November 7th. This special theatrical event will mark the first screening of a specially edited version of the “Shibuya Jihen” (Shibuya Incident), the series’ most intense battle to date, alongside the world premiere of the first two episodes of “Shibutsu Kaiyuu Zenpen”. This chronological progression of Jujutsu Kaisen in theaters is truly captivating fans globally.
