Relive the Romance: The Story of Gotoubun no Hanayome
Haruba Negi’s romantic comedy, Gotoubun no Hanayome, serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine until February 2020, captivated readers with its heartwarming story. The series follows Uesugi Fuutarou, a high-achieving student, who takes on the challenging role of a private tutor for the five beautiful Nakano quintuplets. The catch? They all despise studying and are on the verge of failing! Fuutarou’s mission is to guide them all the way through high school graduation.
The TV anime adaptation first graced screens with its first season from January to March 2019, followed by the second season, Gotoubun no Hanayome∬, from January to March 2021. The story reached its emotional climax with Eiga Gotoubun no Hanayome (also known as The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie), which premiered on May 20, 2022, depicting the memorable “Gakuen-sai” – the last major event of Fuutarou and the quintuplets’ high school life. Subsequently, Gotoubun no Hanayome∽ was theatrically released in July 2023, adapting original manga episodes not covered in the TV series. Most recently, Gotoubun no Hanayome＊, which portrays Fuutarou and the quintuplets’ honeymoon, delighted fans with its theatrical release in September 2024.
