KADOKAWA Corporation announced on December 9th that the highly anticipated TV anime, `Medalist` Season 2, is set to begin its broadcast on January 24, 2026. Fans can catch the series on TV Asahi’s national 24-station network within the “NUMAnimation” programming block and other channels. This exciting announcement follows the widespread acclaim of the series, which has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including first place in the Comics Division of the “Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishou 2022” (Next Manga Award 2022) and the General Division of the “48th Kodansha Manga Award.” The original manga, a captivating work by Tsuruma Ikada, continues to be serialized in Kodansha’s “Afternoon” magazine, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.
HANA to Perform Opening Theme “Cold Night”
For Season 2, it has been officially decided that the opening theme song, “Cold Night,” will be performed by HANA, a dynamic girl group produced by the talented Chanmina. Adding to the excitement, Chanmina herself penned both the lyrics and composition for this powerful track. While Kenshi Yonezu’s theme song “BOW AND ARROW” for Season 1 created significant buzz, this marks a special milestone for HANA as it’s their very first anime tie-up.
HANA is a vibrant 7-member group that emerged from the “No No Girls” audition project, a collaborative effort spearheaded by “BMSG × CHANMINA.” The group is comprised of seven talented members: CHIKA, NAOKO, JISOO, YURI, MOMOKA, KOHARU, and MAHINA. “Cold Night” is described as an uplifting and supportive anthem, crafted to resonate with and encourage individuals who are diligently striving towards their dreams.

New Visuals and PV Unleashed, Promising Intense Skating Action
In conjunction with the broadcast premiere, a captivating new visual and the first promotional video (PV) for `Medalist` Season 2 have been unveiled. The “Chubu Block Tournament Visual” vividly portrays the determined protagonist, Kessoku Inori, alongside ten brand-new characters. This visual teases the passionate narratives that will unfold as these aspiring athletes strive to achieve their dreams of becoming medalists.
Adding another layer of authenticity to the stunning ice skating sequences, professional skater Hongo Rika has joined the production for Season 2, participating in the motion capture filming. Furthermore, Suzuki Akiko, who brilliantly assisted with choreography in Season 1, will return to ensure that the skating scenes are even more realistic and breathtaking.
To celebrate these exciting developments, special extra editions were distributed from 7 PM on December 9th in four key regions: Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro in Tokyo, and Nagoya in Aichi. These exclusive handouts featured a special collaboration visual of `Medalist` × HANA, intriguing information on new characters, and an overview of the upcoming advance screening event.
Kessoku Inori, who harbors an unwavering dream for figure skating, and Akeuraji Tsukasa, her dedicated coach, met and formed an unbreakable bond. As Inori continues her journey to achieve the glory of becoming a “Medalist,” her next crucial stage is the Chubu Block Tournament.
