Jump TOON Rolls Out Major Updates: Free Reads and New Award-Winning Manga!
Great news for manga lovers! Shueisha’s “Jump” group’s vertical-reading manga app, Jump TOON, has kicked off two exciting new initiatives. If you’re into original vertical manga or color versions of popular series, this is for you.
First up, in a move that’s sure to please fans, all original serialized series on the app are now completely free to read from the start! That’s right, no more waiting or paying to dive into the latest stories. Plus, get ready for four fresh series from the winners of the Jump TOON AWARD Vertical Manga Newcomer Award, set to launch one after another.

Binge-Read Your Favorite Series for Free
Following a major update on December 17, 2025, Jump TOON has revamped its reading model. Previously, only the first three episodes were free, with later ones requiring a wait or payment. But now, for most original series, you can read all episodes for free on your first visit. Whether you’re catching up on hits or exploring new releases, it’s never been easier.
Meet the Next Generation of Manga Creators
The Jump TOON AWARD Vertical Manga Newcomer Award is all about discovering and nurturing new talent for the app. Since submissions opened in May 2023, it’s attracted countless entries, with judges from the Jump TOON editorial team and famous manga artists selecting winners. Now, some of these award-winners are debuting their full series.

Four Must-Read New Series
Starting from December 18, 2025, four new series will launch consecutively over four days. Here’s what to expect:
- Miriimonmoja (which can be translated as “Million Moja”): A wild, slapstick daily battle comedy by Katou Kouhei (original story and name) and nan (coloring). It kicks off on Thursday, December 18, with weekly Thursday updates.
- Paafekuto Nanbaa (Perfect Number): A genuine hacking suspense thriller by Kaneaki Go×KJ. Starts Friday, December 19, with weekly Friday updates.
- Nowandaa (No Wonder): A new-generation dark fantasy by Takano Mizuto (original) and Tarumi Akimura (art). Begins Saturday, December 20, with weekly Saturday updates.
- Kimi no Maku ga Agaru (Your Curtain Rises): A youth ensemble story by Yuei Pika. Launches Sunday, December 21, with weekly Sunday updates.

What “First-Time Free Reading” Means
Here’s the scoop on the free reading offer:
- Eligible works have “free episodes” and “first-time free episodes”. New readers can read up to the latest episode for free.
- “First-time free episodes” are available for free for 24 hours after first launching the viewer.
- After 24 hours, they switch to “paid episodes”. To read again, coins or points are required.
- This first-time free reading applies to original series serialized in Jump TOON, with some exceptions.
