Synopsis

Meet Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), a mischievous boy who loves pranks. His family is gearing up for a Christmas trip to Europe with all the relatives. With just three days until Christmas, the house is packed with 15 people, leading to complete chaos during dinner preparations. While the other kids are having a blast, Kevin gets into a fight with his siblings and cousins and ends up banished to the attic.

The next morning, the oversleeping family rushes to the airport in a panic. They all board the plane, ready for their vacation… or so they thought. Mid-flight, the mother, Kate (Catherine O’Hara), realizes with horror that they’ve left Kevin behind! She desperately tries to get back home, but finding an available flight during the holiday season is nearly impossible.

Meanwhile, Kevin is living his best life in the empty house, free to do whatever he wants. He heads to the supermarket, thrilled by the idea of buying all his favorite snacks, but has a scare when he almost gets hit by a car while fleeing from his neighbor Marley (Roberts Blossom), who his brother had warned him was a murderer. The car is driven by the bumbling burglars Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), who are plotting to rob the luxurious homes left empty for the holidays.

When Kevin discovers his own home is the target, he springs into action, devising an elaborate and hilariously painful defense system to protect his castle. Back on the road, Kate, who finally managed to catch a flight to the US, is now on a long overland journey from a distant airport to get home. In a twist, Kevin meets Marley at a church and learns there’s more to the old man than the scary rumors suggest.
