ABEMA’s “Japan Anime Trend Awards 2025” Kicks Off with a Special Award
The new future of television, ABEMA, is set to broadcast the massive anime award show “Japan Anime Trend Awards 2025” on its “Anime SPECIAL Channel” starting at 7:00 PM on December 26. During the program, ABEMA will host the “Japan Anime Trend Awards Ceremony,” where winners in each category are announced after rigorous judging based on data aggregated by major media outlets.
And now, the first ABEMA Special Award has been decided, and it goes to the TV anime ‘Medaristo’ (also known as “Medalist”).

Why ‘Medaristo’ Snagged the First ABEMA Special Award
This time, the first ABEMA Special Award—given to a work with particularly high “heat” based on a comprehensive evaluation of data from “X Company” and feedback from ABEMA viewers—has been awarded to the TV anime ‘Medaristo’. This series is a figure skating manga that won first place in the comic category of the “Next Manga Awards 2022.”
With the second season set to air starting January 24, 2026, the show is gaining even more momentum, making it a fitting choice for the first ABEMA Special Award.
Voice Actor Appearance and Heartfelt Comments
At the venue, Haruse Natsumi, the voice of Kessoku Inori, made an appearance. When asked about her feelings on the award, she spoke about the passion poured into the work by original author Tsuruma Ikada-sensei, as well as the staff and cast, commenting, “I think we received this award as a chain of miracles.”
