A Major Anime Award Show Kicks Off on ABEMA
The new future of television, ABEMA, broadcast the massive domestic anime award show, the “Nihon Anime Trend Taishou 2025” (Japan Anime Trend Awards 2025), on its “Anime SPECIAL Channel” starting at 7:00 PM on December 26th. During the program, they held an awards ceremony announcing the winning works in each category, based on data aggregated by major media outlets and rigorous judging by ABEMA.
It has now been decided that the third ABEMA Special Award goes to the TV anime Takopi no Genzai (which can be translated as Takopi’s Original Sin).
Celebrating the Trends of 2025
The “Nihon Anime Trend Taishou 2025” looked back at the trends of the year while also introducing hot topics for 2026. The main MC was Yuuki Iwa of the comedy duo Haraitchi, with voice actress Youko Hikasa serving as the sub-MC. Guests included anime-loving celebrities like Sora Tokui, Takajii Inukai, Akari Akase, and Tairou Tenshinhan.
The Third ABEMA Special Award Goes to “Takopi’s Original Sin”
This third ABEMA Special Award, given to works that generated particularly high levels of passion based on a comprehensive judgment of factors like “X Corp. data” and “reactions from ABEMA viewers,” was awarded to the TV anime Takopi no Genzai. This series was selected for 3rd place in the men’s category of “Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023” and is a shocking hit that surpassed 1.45 million copies in circulation despite being only 2 volumes long.
While it caused a major stir on social media when the manga was first serialized, the anime also managed to trend on X (formerly Twitter) despite being a streaming-only release. This incredibly popular work has now earned the ABEMA Special Award.

The protagonist of Takopi no Genzai, Takopi themself, appeared at the awards venue, expressing the joy of winning through gestures and body language. A comment from the Takopi no Genzai Production Committee also arrived for the occasion.
