Kingdom Anime Charges Ahead with New Sequel Announcement!

The battlefield is about to expand once more! The epic historical saga of Kingdom is confirmed to continue, with a new sequel anime announced right at the end of the sixth season’s finale. Fans were treated to a brand new announcement promo and a striking visual to mark the exciting news.

The sixth season of this sweeping war epic, which adapts Hara Yasuhisa‘s massively popular manga, wrapped up its run, setting the stage perfectly for the next chapter in the story of Shin and his dream to become a Great General of the Heavens.

A Long and Storied Campaign: The Anime’s Journey

The Kingdom anime has been a long-term campaign itself. It all began back in Summer 2012 with the first season produced by Studio Pierrot, followed swiftly by a second season in Summer 2013. For its third, fourth, and fifth seasons, the production saw a collaboration between Studio Pierrot and Studio Signpost, which really helped solidify the anime’s visual identity and pacing.

This most recent sixth season kicked off in October of this year, continuing the high-stakes military and political drama that fans have come to love. The series has been widely available for international audiences through simulcasts on Crunchyroll.

The Manga Empire: Source Material Strength

All this animated action springs from the incredible source material. Hara Yasuhisa‘s manga began its serialization in Weekly Young Jump way back in January 2006, and it’s still going incredibly strong. With a staggering 120 million copies of its compiled volumes in circulation, it’s a true juggernaut of the industry.

The 77th volume just hit shelves in October, and the 78th is already on the horizon, scheduled for a January 2026 release. For English-speaking fans, VIZ Media secured the license for the manga and is steadily releasing volumes, with the third one also set for early 2026.
