Massive Box Office Success for “Chensouman Reze-hen”
In a stunning achievement, the theatrical release of 「Chensouman Reze-hen」 (also known as Chainsaw Man: The Reze Arc) has smashed through the 10 billion yen mark at the box office. The film attracted over 6.55 million viewers during its 103-day run until December 30, 2025. To celebrate this milestone, original manga creator Fujimoto Tatsuki sent a special thank-you illustration and message. The main cast, including Togame Kikunosuke, Kusunoki Tomori, Sakata Shougo, and Ueda Reina, also shared their congratulatory comments.
About the “Chensouman” Phenomenon
「Chensouman」 (Chainsaw Man) is a manga series by the genius creator Fujimoto Tatsuki, known for hits like Fire Punch, Look Back, and Goodbye, Eri. It’s serialized on Shueisha’s Shounen Jump+ platform and has over 34 million copies in circulation. In 2022, the series got a TV anime adaptation produced by the renowned studio MAPPA (the team behind Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan: The Final Season). The anime was a global sensation, praised worldwide and streamed in over 200 countries and regions.
The Movie and Latest Buzz
The movie 「Chensouman Reze-hen」 is a direct continuation from the TV anime’s finale, bringing the popular “Reze Arc” to the big screen since its release on September 19. It follows the protagonist Denji as his life gets turned upside down by a chance encounter with the mysterious girl Reze, leading him down a path of unpredictable destiny—all portrayed with MAPPA’s signature high-octane action sequences.
The momentum hasn’t slowed down. At the “Jump Festa 2026” stage event on December 21, it was announced that a sequel, 「Chensouman Shikaku-hen」 (The Assassins Arc), is in production. Adding to the excitement, superstar singer Kenshi Yonezu performed the movie’s theme song “IRIS OUT” for the first time on The 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Contest), keeping the franchise in the spotlight through the year-end.
With the official box office numbers now in, creator Fujimoto Tatsuki shared a heartfelt message for fans: “Thank you so much for coming to see it in huge numbers! I’m still totally hung up on it even now!” along with a brand-new illustration of Denji and Reze.
