Mayonaka Heart Tune is a “voice of youth” love comedy based on the manga by Igarashi Masakuni, serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine. It depicts the heroines of the broadcasting club, striving for their “dreams” related to “voice”—be it as singers, voice actors, VTubers, or announcers—and the protagonist who struggles to make their “dreams” come true.

The anime is directed by Takahashi Masayuki, with animation production handled by Gekikou. The cast features Yasuda Rikuya as Yamabuki Arisu, with Seto Momoko as Inohana Rikka, Okubo Rumi as Himegawa Nene, Suzushiro Sayumi as Kirino Iko, Itou Miku as Amatsuki Shinobu, and Hanazawa Kana as Andou Remon also starring.

The Quest for a Lost Voice

Yamabuki Arisu, the heir to a zaibatsu and a self-proclaimed “man promised perfection,” is searching for the “final 1%” he needs to be 100% perfect. That missing piece is “Apollo,” the streamer of the late-night radio show Mayonaka Heart Tune he used to listen to every night. However, at the end of his first year of middle school, she suddenly stopped streaming without telling him anything.

Now, in the spring of his second year of high school, Arisu has schemed his way into becoming a student at Kaedehayashi High School, which has recently gone co-ed. Guided by the only clue he has—the familiar “voice” of Apollo, whose face and real name he doesn’t know—Arisu one day rushes into the school’s broadcasting room. There, he finds four girls, each with a trace of Apollo about them, all dreaming of careers involving their “voice.” And so, Arisu declares he will fulfill the promise he once made to Apollo by making all four of their voice-related dreams come true.
