Winter Anime ‘Haisekuru! Kimengumi’ Episode 2 Preview & Synopsis Revealed!

From the winter anime Haisekuru! Kimengumi, the synopsis and preview screenshots for Episode 2 have been released. The episode, split into two parts titled “Shingakki・Hissatsu Jikoshoukai” (New Semester・Killer Self-Introduction) and “Ruuru Naki Tatakai・Kyuuyuu Kyoutou Hen” (Rule-less Battle・Classmate Alliance Chapter), is set to begin airing on Friday, January 16, 2026.

Haisekuru! Kimengumi is a school gag comedy based on the manga by Motoaki Niizawa. The series first started serialization in 1980 in Weekly Shounen Jump as Sannen Kimengumi (which can be translated as *3rd Year Masked Group*). In a move that was novel for its time, the title changed to Haisekuru! Kimengumi as the characters progressed to high school, leading to a massive hit. The story revolves around the unpredictable school life centered on the infamous “Kimengumi” (Masked Group)—a quintet of wildly unique and chaotic personalities: Ichi dou Rei, Reietsu Gou, Shusseki Yoshi, Daima Jin, and Monohoshi Dai. It was previously adapted into a TV anime from 1985 to 1987, sparking a major boom.

Now revived in the Reiwa era of 2026, this new TV anime is directed by Kazuyoshi Seki, known for his diverse work including films like Kakukaku Shikajika and Beethoven Nensou, and music videos for artists like Perfume, Gen Hoshino, Fuujin Fujii, and Vaundy. Animation production is handled by Animation Studio Seven. The cast for the eccentric Kimengumi members features Tomokazu Seki as Ichi dou Rei, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Reietsu Gou, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Shusseki Yoshi, Chiaki Kobayashi as Daima Jin, and Kikunosuke Toya as Monohoshi Dai. Furthermore, the heroine and their classmate, Kawayui, is played by Seika Shiraishi, and her best friend Uru Chie is voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa.

A week has passed since the “explosion”—no, the graduation—from Ichi dou Middle School. By some twist of fate, the students who enroll at Ichi dou High School are mostly graduates from Ichi dou Middle School.

Adding to the mix are new, equally unique classmates. Yet, on the first day of school, Rei—who was so pumped he woke up early—is nowhere to be found…?

“Ruuru Naki Tatakai・Kyuuyuu Kyoutou Hen” (Rule-less Battle・Classmate Alliance Chapter)

Against all odds, Shinjitsu has managed to ask Yui out on a date! The catch? Chie and the others, Nikaidou, and of course, the “Kimengumi” are all tagging along as a bonus.

At their destination, a bowling alley, the flow of events somehow leads the classmates to start a bowling match with Yui as the prize!?

Episode 2 of the winter anime Haisekuru! Kimengumi, “Shingakki・Hissatsu Jikoshoukai” and “Ruuru Naki Tatakai・Kyuuyuu Kyoutou Hen,” will air on Friday, January 16 at 23:30 on the Fuji TV network’s noitaminA block.
