A Sweet Collaboration: Sanrio Characters Meet Traditional Japanese Sweets
Popular Sanrio characters like Cinnamoroll are getting a delicious makeover thanks to a collaboration with Shioze Souhonke, a traditional Japanese confectionery shop with over 670 years of history. The sale of their “Sanrio Characters Chocolate Yokan” (a type of sweet bean jelly) began on January 21, 2026, at the Shioze Souhonke location in Daimaru Tokyo Store.

Sanrio favorites Cinnamoroll, Hello Kitty, and Kuromi have been transformed into Shioze Souhonke’s special “Chocolate Yokan.” The “Sanrio Characters Chocolate Yokan” features an adorable print of each character on the surface of the jelly. The yokan itself uses high-quality adzuki beans from Otofuke, Hokkaido and granulated sugar, with richly aromatic chocolate kneaded into the mixture. This creates a unique treat where you can enjoy both the refreshing, traditional taste of wagashi and the deep, luxurious flavor of chocolate all at once.

Furthermore, by incorporating chocolate from the “Cacao Trace” program—an initiative aimed at improving the livelihoods and providing technical support to cacao producers—this confectionery contributes to a sustainable future, one sweet at a time.

Product Information & Availability
The yokan is available for purchase at the Shioze Souhonke Daimaru Tokyo Store (with a planned limit of 15 per day). Pre-orders are also being accepted at their Tsukiji Main Store, Matsuya Ginza Store, and Takashimaya Tokyo Store. Sales began on January 21st and are scheduled to be available for the Valentine’s Day season only.
