The song “IRIS OUT” by Yonezu Kenshi has been setting one record after another in music chart history since its release on September 15, and it shows no signs of slowing down!

Unprecedented Chart Dominance

In the Oricon Weekly Combined Single Ranking (as of February 16, 2026), it clinched the top spot for the sixth time, achieving the historic feat of the most weeks at number one ever. Not stopping there, the Oricon Weekly Streaming Ranking (same date) saw it record 21 consecutive weeks at number one—a first for any solo artist—extending its lead as the solo artist with the most consecutive weeks on top.

Adding to the glory, Billboard JAPAN’s “Streaming Songs” chart (released February 11, 2026) welcomed it for its 20th week at number one, while the “Hot Animation” chart (same date) marked its 18th week leading the pack.

Combining Oricon music rankings (February 16, 2026) and Billboard JAPAN music charts (February 11, 2026), “IRIS OUT” scored a quadruple crown of number ones. Even after about five months since release, it’s still going strong as a long-term hit.

The Song Behind the Success

“IRIS OUT” was released on September 15, 2025, as the theme song for the film Gekijouban Chensou Man Reze-hen (also known as “Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc”). Since then, it has been relentlessly rewriting historical chart records, both domestic and international, achieving what can only be called “all-time high records.”

On Billboard JAPAN’s comprehensive song chart “JAPAN Hot 100” (released October 1, 2025), it set the “highest point record in history” since the metric change in 2023. The “Streaming Songs” chart (same date) recorded the “highest number of streams ever for a Japanese song.”

The Oricon Weekly Streaming Ranking (as of October 6, 2025) saw it achieve the “highest weekly streaming count in Oricon history,” setting an all-time record. In the same ranking (as of October 20, 2025), it smashed through 100 million streams in just its fourth week—the fastest ever to do so.

On the U.S. Billboard Global chart “Global 200” (for the weeks of October 4 and 11, 2025), it ranked fifth for two consecutive weeks, becoming the “highest position for a Japanese-language song” and setting an “all-time high record.” On “Global Japan Songs Excl. Japan” (released November 13, 2025), it scored the “highest number of weekly streams overseas for a domestic song,” another historic milestone.

In the first 103 days since release, up to December 30, it attracted 6.558 million viewers and grossed 10.01 billion yen, finally breaking into the big leagues. Even crossing into the new year, its momentum hasn’t slowed, and it has ranked 49th in all-time domestic box office revenue (as of January 5, 2026, according to Kogyo Tsushinsha). The entire nation is caught up in the frenzy.

Globally, it has been released in over 100 countries, and as of December 7, it has exploded past $118.24 million (approximately 18.4 billion yen, converted at 1 dollar = 156 yen).
