New Sword Warrior “Kumoshige” Arrives in Touken Ranbu Online!

The sword-raising simulation game Touken Ranbu ONLINE is currently holding the event “Tactical Enhancement Training ~Chiyoko Daisakusen~” where players can obtain the new Touken Danshi (Sword Warrior), Kumoshige (cv. Nakamura Shuugo), starting after the maintenance on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

What is Touken Ranbu?

Affectionately known as Tourabu, Touken Ranbu ONLINE is a PC browser and smartphone app sword-raising simulation game where players become the Saniwa (Master) and lead historical swords personified as warriors—the Touken Danshi—to battle and protect history. Players collect and raise a diverse cast of sword warriors across eight types: Tantou, Wakizashi, Uchigatana, Tachi, Oodachi, Naginata, Yari, and Ken. They form their own unit to conquer various battlefields.

With Nitroplus handling the world view, scenario, and character design, the game has surpassed a cumulative total of 14 million users. Its success has spawned numerous mixed-media projects including anime, musicals, console games, stage plays, movies, and even kabuki, sweeping the entertainment world and contributing to a nationwide sword boom.

Event Details & The New Sword: Kumoshige

This time, the in-game event “Tactical Enhancement Training ~Chiyoko Daisakusen~” is now live. It’s a special event where the new Touken Danshi, Kumoshige (cv. Nakamura Shuugo), is available as a reward.

The new sword warrior Kumoshige is an Uchigatana crafted by the swordsmith Kumoshige from Ukai-go, Bizen Province, and belongs to the Ukai school. The name of the school is derived from a place in Bingo Province called Ukai.

This school saw the implementation of the Tachi “Umshou” in October 2024, followed by another Tachi, “Unji”, in February 2025.

Interestingly, within the Touken Ranbu universe, perhaps because of the “cloud” (kumo) character in their names, swords from this line have aviation-related roles. Umshou is an air traffic controller, Unji is a flight operations manager, and the newly implemented Kumoshige is a maintenance technician.

Described as “someone with low self-esteem but tackles everything earnestly with innate stamina and determination, a real hard worker,” Kumoshige has already captured players’ hearts. Saniwa are expressing high expectations with comments like: “The cute one of the Ukai school!”, “Too sweet!”, “He has the fluffy look of a mix between Akita-kun and Kiyomaro-kun”, and “Uh-oh… I’m getting a serious ‘moe’ trap vibe here…!!”.

With the event already underway, Saniwa who have quickly obtained Kumoshige are sharing impressions: “Kumoshige-san is so honest, humble, and way too cute!?”, “His memories were adorable,” and “His translucent aura is insane…!!!”.

How the Event Works

The event “Tactical Enhancement Training ~Chiyoko Daisakusen~” tasks players with forming units to meet various conditions on training panels. By clearing these conditions, you unlock the panels. Unlocking training panels rewards you with “Chiyoko” tokens. Collecting these allows you to earn various rewards, including the new sword warrior Kumoshige, as well as sword equipment and useful items.

Separate from the new sword Kumoshige, the event also features Taikei Naotane (cv. Inoue Yuuki), causing quite a stir. Players are excitedly posting: “Finally!!! Taikei-kun!! I can get him!!!!! (From a forging loser)”, “Huh!? Wait!? Taikei-kun is in the token exchange!??”, and “I want Taikei-san, time to spend!”.

By unlocking all nine training panels, players can obtain the Touken Danshi displayed on the training sheet’s background. Furthermore, collecting a certain number of “Chiyoko” tokens will cause other sword warriors like Unji (cv. Mizushima Takahiro), Umshou (cv. Kasama Jun), and Fukushima Mitsutada (cv. Hosoya Yoshimasa) to appear in the training sheet background. So, tackle more training to aim for acquiring these sword warriors!
