A campaign commemorating the remaster release of the love adventure games Gakuen-sai no Ouji-sama and DokiDoki Survival from The Prince of Tennis series is launching at Lawson stores nationwide on May 19, 2026. Fans have been expressing their joy, calling it “generous welfare benefits.”
The Prince of Tennis is based on the popular manga by Konomi Takeshi, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) in 1999. The story revolves around “youth × tennis,” following genius middle school student Echizen Ryoma as he joins the Seishun Academy tennis team and engages in intense matches and comedic episodes with unique friends and rivals.
On May 13, the official X account for the series posted: “[Campaign Info] Starting 5/19 (Tue), a Lawson campaign for Gakupuri and Dokisaba from Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama will be held! Buy 3 eligible items to receive an original clear sheet on a first-come, limited-quantity basis!” This announcement was made for the Lawson campaign.
This post sent fans into a frenzy. Comments included: “Tenipuri fans must have accumulated tons of good karma in their past lives!” “Thank you world, thank you Lawson, thank you Tenipuri!” “Wait, too much info, I need time to process.” “First of all, thank you.” “Seriously, save me, I love it too much.” “YABAI!!!!!!!!!” “Sorry, I might deplete my local Lawson’s stock of bonuses.” “I can tell which scene it is, I’m too far gone.” “Ah, no way!!!!! The remaster versions for Nintendo Switch, scheduled for release on July 30, 2026, were originally released for PlayStation 2 on December 22, 2005. They were well-received immediately after release and became a hot topic among fans. On February 11, 2010, a Nintendo DS version with additional elements was released.
On September 20, 2025, the project was first announced with a post: “About 20 years after the original release—KONAMI’s ‘#Tenisu no Ouji-sama’ project restarts! The remaster release of two titles, ‘Tenisu no Ouji-sama #Gakuen-sai no Ouji-sama‘ and ‘Tenisu no Ouji-sama #DokiDoki Survival‘ has been decided! Please look forward to further updates.”
