The cinema concert of Sayonara Galaxy Express 999: Andromeda Terminal Station will be held on June 21, 2026, at the Aichi Prefectural Arts Theater Main Hall in Nagoya. The event is organized in memory of Ikeda Masako, the voice actress of Maeter, who passed away on March 3. Titled “Sayonara Galaxy Express 999 Cinema Concert ~In Memory of Ikeda Masako~”, this Nagoya performance follows the success of a previous Galaxy Express 999 cinema concert held in February 2022 in the same city.
In a cinema concert format, the film’s dialogue and sound effects are retained while the musical score is performed live by a full orchestra in synchronization with the entire movie. The music for Sayonara Galaxy Express 999: Andromeda Terminal Station was composed by Shoji Shou, whose rich, melancholic melodies enhance the epic story. The conductor will be Kurita Hirofumi, and the Chubu Philharmonic Orchestra will deliver the live performance. Vocalist Okonogi Mari will sing the theme song “SAYONARA” in place of Mary MacGregor.
The event marks the first time the second theatrical film has been performed solo in this concert format. Previously, in November 2021, both Galaxy Express 999 and its sequel were shown together in Tokyo. The large screen will showcase the expansive space fantasy, while the live orchestra creates an immersive experience that brings the world of manga artist Matsumoto Reiji to life.
