The iconic post-apocalyptic world of Fist of the North Star is getting a surprising new entry in the world of self-care. Starting July 2026, drugstores and discount stores across Japan will carry hot patches featuring Kenshirou and Raou, sold under the product name “Dai-3 Ruui Iyakuhin: Hokuto no Ken Hot Patch.”
A Legend Returns
Created by writer Buronson and artist Tetsuo Hara, Fist of the North Star (originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1983) became a global phenomenon thanks to its powerhouse artwork, unforgettable characters, and the story of Kenshirou—the last successor of the deadly martial art Hokuto Shinken. The series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide, and a new anime adaptation, Fist of the North Star: FIST OF THE NORTH STAR, began airing on April 10, 2026.
These hot patches are a warming type of topical analgesic designed to relieve lower back pain, shoulder stiffness, joint pain, and muscle fatigue. One of their key features is a formulation with approximately 1.8 times the warming ingredient of comparable over-the-counter products. The product deliberately evokes the “pressure points” (himitsu no ana) that appear in the manga, adding a playful element for longtime fans.
Each variant comes with a clever nod to iconic lines. Kenshirou’s package reads “Omae wa mou hatte iru…” (“You are already applied…”), a twist on his signature “Omae wa mou shinde iru” (“You are already dead”). Raou’s box says “Naraba kori to mo tatakau made!” (“Then I shall fight against the stiffness!”), a reference to his famous “Naraba watashi to mo tatakau made!” The patches also contain seven active ingredients—a direct homage to Kenshirou’s seven scars and the Big Dipper (Hokuto Shichisei)—for what the press release calls “a truly apocalyptic level of relief.”
As the new anime continues to air, these hot patches offer fans a way to soothe their own “century-end” aches and pains while celebrating the enduring legacy of Fist of the North Star.
