MegaHouse is bringing the iconic kunoichi Mai Shiranui to life in a brand-new figure based on a newly commissioned illustration by the acclaimed artist Hiroaki-sensei. The Lucrea THE KING OF FIGHTERS ’98 Mai Shiranui Finished Figure is now available for pre-order at select hobby retailers including Amiami, priced at 25,300 yen (tax included) and scheduled for release in October 2026.
The King of Fighters ’98 is a landmark title in SNK’s legendary fighting game series, often hailed for its nearly perfect game balance. Serving as a culmination of the earlier entries from ’94 through ’97, it features a massive roster of fighters from previous games and was released on multiple platforms including the Neo Geo, PlayStation, and Dreamcast.
The figure captures Mai in her classic victory pose, standing gracefully with an umbrella in one hand. The sculpt emphasizes her toned, athletic physique as a kunoji, exuding both strength and elegance. The illustration by Hiroaki-sensei—who has contributed to numerous SNK titles over the years—serves as the direct inspiration for the design.
Attention to detail is evident in the subtle sunset-toned coloring of her costume and the reproduction of the trademark “日本一” (Japan’s #1) text on the umbrella. Every element is crafted to give the figure a special, premium feel.
