The first-ever ice show based on the hit game Touken Ranbu ONLINE, titled “Touken Ranbu – ICE BLADE -“, has revealed new details including an original character and a star-studded lineup of skaters and voice actors. The show will feature Japan’s top figure skaters alongside the game’s voice cast as eight “Touken Danshi” (sword warriors), blending physical skating performance with vocal drama.
Touken Ranbu ONLINE is a sword-collecting simulation game that has surpassed 14 million total users. Players act as a “审神者” (Saniwa) who leads legendary swords transformed into warriors called Touken Danshi. Players collect and train eight types of swords—short, wakizashi, uchigatana, tachi, odachi, naginata, yari, and ken—to form their own squads and conquer various battlefields.
Now, the first ice show adaptation of Touken Ranbu has announced that Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic silver medalist Kaori Sakamoto will perform as the original character “Ice Spirit” (氷の精霊). She joins a cast of top skaters including Takahito Mura, who will portray the iconic Touken Danshi Mikazuki Munechika on ice, with voice actor Kousuke Toriumi providing the character’s voice.
A key visual has also been released showing skaters Mura Takahito, Kazuki Kushida, and Keisuke Kodaira (PIW) as Touken Danshi gliding across the ice. The visual captures the speed and sparkle unique to ice skating, and the show promises to deliver a never-before-seen Touken Ranbu world through beautiful ice dances and sword-fighting choreography.
Following this key visual, solo visuals and character visual images “on ice”—themed around the concept of skating Touken Danshi—will be released sequentially.
Story
In the year 2205, “Historical Revisionists” begin attacking the past to alter history. The government sends “Saniwa” capable of awakening the spirit of sleeping objects and granting them the power to fight. The manifested tsukumogami, the Touken Danshi, plunge into battle to protect history.
In one particular citadel, protected by five elemental shrines (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water), the citadel is tasked with monitoring “false texts”—forces that distort and consume true history. One day, a five-headed dragon attacks, destroying the shrines and scattering the five spirits into the false texts. At that moment, the Ice Spirit awakens deep within the citadel… Can Mikazuki Munechika and the others save the spirits from the distorted histories created by the false texts? The new battle of the Touken Danshi, “Ice Blade”, begins.
