The Attack Begins
In Episode 9, Tanjiro finds hope in Tamayo’s mansion for a method to turn demons back into humans—but an unexpected attack arrives! Kibutsuji Muzan sends the Handball Demon Susamaru and the Arrow Demon Yahaba. Tanjiro quickly shields Nezuko, and Yushiro protects Tamayo.

“Yushiro’s Head Blown Off!”
The Handball Demon’s balls have enough force to destroy walls—and one hits Yushiro straight in the head! Fans reacted: “YUSHIRO!!!!!”, “His head goes pop”, “Yushiro-kun’s… (shocking)”, “When Yushiro’s head flew off, it was shocking”, “When Yushiro’s neck came off, I was really surprised.” Tanjiro shouts “Yushiro-san!” with vertical lines on his face.

Tanjiro realizes the demons are targeting him, but when he tries to protect Tamayo, she says, “Please fight without worrying about us. We don’t need protection—we are demons.” Yushiro, also a demon, slowly regenerates his head, leaving Tanjiro wide-eyed.
“Her Arms Increased!”
Seeing them, Susamaru gets excited: “How amusing!” She reveals she is one of the Twelve Kizuki, the direct subordinates of Muzan. Then her arms multiply to six, shocking Tanjiro: “Her arms increased!” Some fans compared her to Ashuraman from Kinnikuman or Hatchan from One Piece. Susamaru smiles: “Let’s keep playing until morning!”
“If You See the Arrow, You’ll Know the Direction. Dodge the Arrow!”
Tanjiro struggles to dodge the balls. Frustrated, Yushiro uses his Blood Demon Art to lend Tanjiro his vision, allowing him to see arrows (→) indicating the attack direction. Fans commented: “Yushiro-kun’s incredibly convenient Blood Demon Art”, “Seeing the arrow doesn’t make it easy”, “I could see the arrows too!” Still, Tanjiro continues to struggle. One fan noted: “This arrow ability is too strong for early in the series.” With the arrow visible, Tanjiro asks Nezuko to handle the other demon.

“The Eyeball on the Hand Is Gross!”
Tanjiro manages to cut off Susamaru’s six arms, but they regenerate quickly. Meanwhile, Nezuko has trouble with Yahaba. Yushiro calls out, and Tanjiro switches to face Yahaba. The Arrow Demon is tough, using arrows to slam Tanjiro around. When Nezuko tries to kick Susamaru’s ball, her ankle is blown off. Fans reacted: “Nezuko’s leg came off!”, “How dare you hurt Nezuko-chan’s foot!!” Tamayo tends to her, but Nezuko’s slow recovery worries her. Nezuko sees a mother figure in Tamayo. Despite his struggle, Tanjiro mutters, “I’m sorry, but… that eyeball on the hand is gross!” Fans found him endearing: “‘I’m sorry, but…'”, “There’s no need to apologize for that”, “Tanjiro saying ‘I’m sorry’ twice is cute”, “He’s such a good kid even when grossed out.”

By adapting his technique, Tanjiro finally defeats Yahaba.
