Good Smile Company Launches ‘Gattai Shin Series’ With New Robot Anime ‘Juou Bushin Dandevine’ in October 2026

Good Smile Company has announced a major new project for its 25th anniversary: the Gattai Shin Series, a brand-new robot anime initiative. The first title in the project will be Juou Bushin Dandevine, a completely original TV anime scheduled to premiere in October 2026.

The Gattai Shin Series aims to carry forward the tradition of thrilling combining robot mecha into the future. Under the company’s hobby label “Mekasuma”, the project brings together creators who love robots, with toys and anime developed in full synchronization from the planning stage. Rather than a temporary fad, the goal is to release a completely new work and combining robot toy every year, each with a different theme of “gattai” (combination), creating a new standard for robot anime.

Story and Setting

The story takes place 20 years after the combining robot Dandevine defeated the mysterious enemy Apostdoll. Toy manufacturer “Casga”, which once dominated the industry with Dandevine merchandise, has fallen into decline due to over-reliance on the robot. Casga’s president, Seijaku Genjuro, longs for Dandevine’s return even if it means disrupting the peace. His wish seems to reach the heavens, as Apostdoll reappears in Tokyo. Panic erupts among people who have enjoyed 20 years of peace. Amid the chaos, high school student Seijaku Gekijin is persuaded by his uncle Kuroiwa Yusaku, the former main pilot, to board Dandevine. What is Apostdoll’s true aim? And can Casga reclaim its toy industry dominance? A new battle begins.

Staff and Cast

The main staff includes director Cao Yi, series composition and script by Inoue Toshiki, original character design by Majiro, anime character design by robin, mecha design by An (GOD BRAVE STUDIO), and sound direction by Iwanami Yoshikazu. Animation production is handled by Liden Films and Kayac Animation.

The main cast features Terashima Takuma as Seijaku Gekijin, the grandson of Casga president Seijaku Genjuro who becomes the pilot of Dandevine.

Shiraishi Haruka plays Gekijin’s classmate and girlfriend Hisumi Akane.

Aizawa Saya plays Gekijin’s younger sister Seijaku Kirei.

Opening Theme by Takanori Nishikawa

The opening theme will be performed by Takanori Nishikawa. Nishikawa commented: “I am Takanori Nishikawa. I will be in charge of the opening theme for Juou Bushin Dandevine. As a generation raised on robot anime, I am creating this song with the desire to send Japan’s proud robot anime to the world. Please look forward to Dandevine and the opening theme.”

Merchandise and Manga

Good Smile Company will release “Mekasuma” robot toys and plastic model kits in tandem with the anime. Additionally, Takara Tomy’s high-target hobby label T-SPARK will produce a toy version. A manga adaptation is also planned in Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh with illustrations by TOGUCHI.

At Good Smile Fest 2026 (June 6–7), a mini plastic model of Dandevine will be distributed to attendees.
