Sanrio’s rebellious yet girly character Kuromi is teaming up with Hotel New Otani Hakata for a special afternoon tea experience. Titled KUROMI Afternoon Tea at Castillian, the event will run from July 1 to August 30, 2026, at the hotel’s restaurant Castilian Room.
A Classic Afternoon Tea with Kuromi’s Playful Touch
Themed around “enjoying a special afternoon tea with a dressed-up Kuromi in a classical space reminiscent of a medieval castle,” the menu features sweets and savories inspired by the character. An original design created specifically for this collaboration incorporates motifs actually found in the Castilian Room — such as the restaurant entrance, the piano inside, and the afternoon tea sweets themselves. Guests can take photos in the same spots depicted in the artwork, fully immersing themselves in Kuromi’s world.
Sweet and Savory Highlights
Among the sweets, the lineup includes a blueberry canelé shaped like a dress, a chocolate tart featuring Kuromi’s signature hood, and Kuromi marshmallows — all designed to be irresistibly photogenic. For the savory side, there’s a Kuromi sandwich and a croquette served with a tartar sauce made from pickled rakkyo (a favorite food of Kuromi), adding a playful twist.
Special Drinks
The KUROMI Cotton Trick is a fragrant drink with mallow blue and lavender flower, combined with the gentle sweetness of Calpis. It features a popping sensation (inspired by Kuromi’s mischievous nature) and fluffy cotton candy, making it a cute and fun choice.
The KUROMI Silky Float offers a creamy blend of yogurt tanginess and grapefruit juice, finished with strawberry and kyoho grape syrup. Topped with an acai blend ice, it’s another adorable drink that captures Kuromi’s essence.

Each guest who orders the afternoon tea set will receive one Hakata-ori mini pouch per person. Additionally, ordering a Kuromi drink comes with a randomly selected original coaster (two designs available).
