Fans of the film Gegege no Nazo (Kitarou Tanjou: Gegege no Nazo) will soon be able to soak in a collaboration bath featuring fresh illustrations of Gegege no Chichi and Mizuki in a post-bath look. The collaborative event “Gegege no Yu” will be held at 16 locations of the Gokurakuyu and RAKU SPA group of hot spring facilities from June 18 to July 7, 2026.
About the Film
Released in November 2023 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of manga artist Mizuki Shigeru’s birth, Gegege no Nazo is a feature-length anime film that explores the secret of Kitarou’s birth, depicting the meeting of the former Medama-oyaji and Mizuki, and the fate their fathers confront. The film won the Award for Excellence in Animation at the 47th Japan Academy Film Prize, and a special edition titled Gegege no Nazo: Shinsei-ban with upgraded visuals and audio was also screened.
The film was directed by Koga Gou, known for Gekijouban Gegege no Kitarou: Nihon Bakuretsu!!, with a script by Yoshino Hiroyuki (Macross F) and character designs by Yatabe Touko, who served as assistant director on Shin Evangelion Gekijouban. The cast includes Seki Toshihiko as Gegege no Chichi (formerly Medama-oyaji), Kiuchi Hidenobu as Mizuki, along with Tanezaki Atsumi, Kobayashi Yumiko, Shiratori Satoshi, Tobita Nobuo, Sawako Isoko, Nakai Kazuya, Yamaji Kazuhiro, Minaguchi Yuko, Kurugi Mie, Ishida Akira, Matsukaze Masaya, Sawashiro Miyuki, Nozawa Masako, Shouji Umeka, and Furukawa Toshio, many of whom also voiced characters in the 6th TV anime series.
Original Goods on Sale
During the campaign, each participating store will sell original goods featuring newly drawn visuals. Items include a “Mafura Towel” (available for an additional fee on top of admission), “Acrylic Stand”, “Can Badge”, “Locker Key-style Keychain”, “Onsen Manju”, “Clear File Set”, and “Nukunuku Nui” plush. As a purchase bonus, customers will receive a “Thousand Shrine Card-style Sticker”.
Goods will also be sold on the official online shop beginning June 18 at 12:00, so fans far from the venues need not miss out.
Collaboration Menu
A special collaboration menu inspired by Gegege no Chichi and Mizuki will be offered. Highlights include a tumbler drink and takeout items exclusive to RAKU CAFE.
Each collaboration menu order comes with a coaster. A sticker rally will also run concurrently: collecting 5 stickers can be exchanged for 1 coaster, and 20 stickers for a complete coaster set.
Collab Baths and Decor
Four types of collaboration baths, each based on the image colors of Gegege no Chichi and the others, will be randomly installed. Specially designed tapestries will adorn the bathrooms. The venues will also feature character panels, banners, tapestries, and scene-shot posters throughout.
Digital Stamp Rally and In-Store Announcements
A digital stamp rally can be accessed by scanning QR codes on scene-shot posters (display boards). Collecting all stamps earns an original wallpaper. Throughout the event period, an original in-store announcement voiced by Gegege no Chichi (CV: Seki Toshihiko) will be broadcast in the facilities.
X Campaign and GK Print
Visitors who post about the collaboration on X (formerly Twitter) with a specified hashtag and show the post at reception will receive one illustration card and one raffle ticket for a chance to win collaboration decorations. Additionally, original bromide prints of the collaboration illustrations will be available for purchase at convenience store multi-copy machines (FamilyMart and Lawson) nationwide via “GK Print”.
