A second collaboration between Captain Tsubasa and the traditional Kanazawa gold leaf craft (Kanzawa-haku) has been announced. The new artwork, titled “Fukutsu no Mōko: Kakugo no Toki – The Moment of Resolve,” features Hyuga Kojiro and will be available via a limited first-come, first-served ordering system starting June 15, 2026.
First serialized by Yoichi Takahashi in Shūkan Shōnen Jump from 1981 to 1988, Captain Tsubasa follows genius soccer player Ōzora Tsubasa as he transfers to Nankatsu Elementary and grows through battles with rivals like Wakabayashi Genzo and Hyuga Kojiro. The franchise continues in 2026 with the latest series Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS, running on the manga app “Young Jump+”. Domestic cumulative sales of the manga have exceeded 90 million copies. The anime has also inspired countless soccer fans worldwide.
A Fusion of Tradition and Perseverance
The gold leaf used in this project, known as “Kanazawa no Enzuke Haku,” has been crafted for over 400 years. The artisan’s dedication, challenges, and dreams mirror the story of Captain Tsubasa—a tale of rising after every fall and moving forward despite defeat and struggle. This second collaboration resonates with the shared spirit of effort, challenge, and dreams.
The artwork depicts Hyuga Kojiro, a character who never grew up in a privileged environment but carved his own future through countless hardships.
Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing a handwritten signature and edition number from Takahashi-sensei.
Limited Worldwide Editions
The gold foil edition is limited to 10 pieces worldwide, while the platinum foil edition is limited to 5 pieces. Orders will close once the allocation is reached.
