The 12th and final episode of Akane-banashi ended with a second season announcement on Saturday. The new season is scheduled to air in January 2027 on the IMAnimation programming block, which broadcasts on TV Asahi’s 24 affiliate stations and BS Asahi.
The official website also revealed six supporting cast members who appeared in the final episode. They are listed below.

Production and Streaming
The first season was produced by Zexcs and adapted the drama performing arts manga by Yuuki Suenaga and Takamasa Moue. It premiered on April 4 and was streamed on YouTube in North and Latin America, as well as on Netflix worldwide.
Manga Information
Suenaga and Moue began serializing the rakugo-themed drama manga in Weekly Shounen Jump in February 2022. Shueisha published the 22nd volume on June 4, with the 23rd volume planned for an August 4 release.
VIZ Media simulpublishes the manga in English and released the 16th volume on May 12. The 17th volume is set to be released on August 11. Shueisha’s Manga Plus service also simulpublishes the manga in English, Spanish, Thai, and French.
