New merchandise based on the film GeGeGe no Kitaro: Birth of Kitaro – The Mystery of GeGeGe has been announced, featuring a newly drawn illustration of Kitaro’s father and Mizuki. The full lineup of 10 items is now available for pre-order on the AMNIBUS store.
The movie, released in November 2023 as a commemorative work for the 100th anniversary of Mizuki Shigeru’s birth, tells the story of the secret behind Kitaro’s birth, focusing on the encounter between the former Eyeball Father and Mizuki, and the fate the two fathers face. It received high praise, winning the Excellent Animation Work Award at the 47th Japan Academy Prize, and a special edition titled GeGeGe no Kitaro: Birth of Kitaro – The Mystery of GeGeGe Shinseiban was also screened with enhanced visuals and sound.
The new products use an illustration titled “Fighting Father’s Back ver.” which depicts Kitaro’s father and Mizuki in a striking pose as they look back over their shoulders. A variety of items featuring this design are now available.
The B2 hanging scroll allows fans to enjoy the large-format illustration, while the acrylic stand clock can be used as a desk clock with a stand.
Other items that let fans display the illustration on their desks include a multi desk mat, an F0 canvas board, and a BIG acrylic stand.
Additionally, a set of three can badges, an A3 mat poster, and a die-cut sticker are also part of the lineup.
Paper items such as a set of three bromide prints and a set of three illustration cards are also available for those who want to enjoy the artwork in a more compact form.
