To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sakura Momoko’s manga Chibi Maruko-chan, a special limited-time event titled “Sakura Momoko Yumeiro Shoten” will be held at Takashimaya Osaka Store from July 9, 2026. The event will feature advance sales of goods from both Chibi Maruko-chan and Sakura’s other popular work, Kojikoji, along with photo spots that bring their colorful worlds to life.
The manga Chibi Maruko-chan follows the daily life of third-grader Maruko (Sakura Momoko) and her family and friends, with 18 volumes published. The TV anime began in 1990 and has been broadcast overseas, beloved worldwide. Meanwhile, Kojikoji is a fantasy nonsense gag about the cosmic being Kojikoji and his eccentric friends, with a TV anime that ran for 101 episodes starting in 1997.
At the “Sakura Momoko Yumeiro Shoten” event, over 70 new items will debut, including the “Chibi Maruko-chan Exotic Series” featuring exotic designs. Advance sale goods include “Chibi Maruko-chan Rubber Keyholder Exotic (Orange)”, “Chibi Maruko-chan Mini Tote Key Case Exotic (Fish)”, and “Chibi Maruko-chan Cinnamon Pudding Rooibos Tea”. Event-exclusive items such as “Mini Handkerchief (Reading)” and “Transparent Acrylic Coaster (Kojikoji)” will also be available.
The venue will also feature a photo spot that expresses the exotic and colorful world of the series, perfect for taking pictures with family and friends.
The event runs from July 9 to July 20, 2026, at the 7th floor event space of Takashimaya Osaka Store.
During the event, customers who spend 4,000 yen (tax included) or more on related goods in a single receipt will receive one random “can badge” from a set of six designs.
