SAKAMOTO DAYS is a manga by Suzuki Yuuto serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump since November 2020. It follows former legendary hitman Sakamoto Taro as he fights alongside his friends to protect his peaceful daily life with his beloved family from approaching assassins. The TV anime began airing in January 2025, and a live-action film starring Meguro Ren was released on April 29, 2026. Now, the second season of the TV anime is set to air in January 2027.

In the highly anticipated second season, Sakamoto and Shin begin an undercover investigation at JCC to obtain information on the lurking X. Meanwhile, ORDER members Nangumo, Kamihate, and Daibutsu, heading to Kyoto on a mission, are attacked by unexpected assassins. Amidst swirling conspiracies, the past of young Sakamoto, Nangumo, Rion, and X is revealed.

Along with the season 2 announcement, a new visual depicting Sakamoto and Shin back-to-back as they embark on the JCC infiltration investigation was unveiled. In Sakamoto’s hand shines the ballpoint pen randomly issued as a weapon during the JCC entrance exam, while Shin wears a glove as new equipment on his right hand. The visual hints at the new fierce battles awaiting Sakamoto and the others as season 2 begins.

Additionally, the season 2 teaser PV was released for the first time. It shows Sakamoto disguised as his wife Aoi infiltrating as a trainee teacher, and Shin searching for information within JCC while attending classes as a student. Along with returning characters from season 1 such as Seba Natsuki and Akao Akira, new appealing characters join, including the honor student Shu who dislikes the Assassin Alliance, Satoda who once taught Sakamoto, and the mysterious man Yotsumura involved in the founding of ORDER, raising further expectations for season 2.

For season 2, Nakajima Daisuke, who worked on the first season, has been appointed as director. Additionally, cast information for characters playing important roles in season 2 was announced. Togawa Kikunosuke plays Shu, a student with strong hostility toward the Assassin Alliance whom Sakamoto and Shin meet during their JCC infiltration. Watanabe Misa plays Satoda Etsuko, the oldest veteran teacher at JCC. Fuji Shuu plays Yotsumura, one of the founding members of ORDER. Comments from each have arrived.

Comments

Season 2 Director: Nakajima Daisuke

“I am honored to be in charge of this popular Jump series. I will depict without reserve the stylish action pleasure and the aesthetics of the unique hitmen drawn by Suzuki-sensei. Taking over the baton from season 1, I am working with enthusiasm to express the charm of the original work, its sense of speed, and its grand scenes through animation, which is loved passionately by fans worldwide. To the fans and to those who will discover it for the first time, please look forward to the reopening of season 2!”

Shu role: Togawa Kikunosuke

Togawa Kikunosuke (Shu role)

“I am Togawa Kikunosuke, voicing Shu! My first impression was that he is a very straightforward kid who cares about his friends and family! On the other hand, I also felt he has a dangerous side due to the strength of his feelings. Participating in the recording, I laugh at the fun of the SAKAMOTO DAYS anime, tremble at its hot coolness, and every episode is extremely enjoyable! Please look forward to Shu’s appearance!”

Satoda Etsuko role: Watanabe Misa

Watanabe Misa (Satoda Etsuko role)

“I felt this role was so rewarding that I wondered if I had become a voice actor to perform like this. At first, I had an image of Satoda as somewhat high-handed and cool, but when I heard she is a teacher who is very kind to her students, I changed my approach. A memorable scene is when she tears up at the young people earnestly trying to learn combat, saying ‘How earnest they are…’ I overlapped that with myself crying at a voice actor school graduation performance, and I felt I could bring Satoda-sensei’s feelings closer.”

Yotsumura role: Fuji Shuu

Fuji Shuu (Yotsumura role)

“I am Fuji Shuu, voicing Yotsumura in the TV anime SAKAMOTO DAYS. After reading the original work, my impression of Yotsumura from the script and video was that he is a man who suits the word ‘cynical,’ not showing much emotion. However, as I performed, I reconfirmed that he is a man with love. I am giving my all to perform so that everyone can enjoy it. Please look forward to it.”
